I've been saying for a long time. Using natural gas to create electricity is a bad, bad idea.
If you read the article, what you won't read is the connection between the rolling electrical black outs in the SW states and the connection to rationing NG.
They need the additional pressure at the power plants to produce electricity, so it has to come from somewhere. Where? The consumer. At the same point they are being asked not to use electricity. Why? Because short of turning someones power off at their service entrance or an entire section of the local grid for the most part is no way to "ration" electricity.
Some areas of the country have electric providers trying to use LCT's (load control transponders) that are connected directly to your service panel and will control virtually every circuit in your building. They've run into a lot of software issues and haven't made much progress using these the last ten years.
Yes, residents and businesses do have energy saving devices (LCT's) that the power companies can use to turn on and off large demand appliances, AC/water heaters, etc., but for the most part other than rolling black outs those measures mean little.
Another problem is with the lift/pump stations for NG. The environmentalists and EPA have put in place rules that do not allow for the lift stations to use NG to run the lift stations!!!! This is nuts. Get these people out of the way and let the NG suppliers move their product in the most efficient manner.

Probably, but it's another opportunity for bureaucrats to step up and reregulate, get in the way, make more laws to show what is needed to tend the sheep. Use scare tactics to show they have to do something. The point is they are already doing to much, getting in the way.

We will make it through, just how much more will it cost us is the question?

We have an oil glut too, and when Obama and his Comrades are booted out, the EPA is reigned in, we will get it.

The 'Green Economy' boon Obama promised worked out just great didn't it?

Anyone check their electric rates lately? Obama is living up to his promises.

Some (you know who you are) think .5-1% emitting of the world's mercury into the atmosphere by U.S. power companies justifies Obama and his minions plan to shut down our economy. Yes, nature by far is the worst climate criminal for mercury emissions, but no word on Obama's plan for stopping it.

Gee. Maybe we should have a test before someone is allowed to vote.... you know, basic knowledge of history, government, economics, current events, an ability to think critically and generate cogent ideas based on comprehension of facts documented in the written word.

Seems it depends on whose written word you chose to believe. or which political agenda you try to spin. it just gets deeper and deeper.
