I think you folks are saying you want higher gas taxes, right? So now it's OK to tax people because they are too fat? Is it OK to tax people who don't have blond hair as well? What if their eyes are the wrong color? I think we fought a war over that sort of thinking not so many years ago.... yes I do believe that was called World War II.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for biking and rode 16 miles in today and will hopefully ride 16 miles back home tonight. But raising gas taxes is never the answer. That just puts more of your money into the politicians hands....

A lot of obesity is inked to being poor. Without access to decent food the poor tend to eat a very high carb diet because it is cheap.

As far as that graph showing who pays what for taxes, you are showing the disparity between the wealthy and the middle class. Middle class is sinking more and more towards lower class wage earners so the divide is growing.

I did a quick calculation comparing Dorritoes to blueberries. If I didn't screw it up, a calorie from blueberries cost roughly 10 times more than a calorie from Doritoes. This ignores the eventual health costs which I won't attempt to estimate.

The wealthiest 25% of US households own almost 90% of the country’s wealth, while the bottom quartile hold no net wealth at all.

The logic is inescapable. You can't tax the lower 25% because they haven't got it. The top 25% have 10x the wealth of the middle 50% so for every percentage point you lower the tax rate for the top 25% you have to raise the rates on the middle group by 10% to compensate for the loss of revenue!

So Jdeere would have us raise the tax rate on the middleclass by 30% to maintain a 3% cut in the tax rate of the upperclass? He is trying to create an oligarchy in this country and he and his political cohorts are doing a good job of it. Why any American would want to destroy the middleclass or bankrupt the government is beyond me. Some people just don't know how good they have got it until they lose it or destroy it.

You can slice and dice these numbers anyway you want and you can look at income instead of networth and you still get the same result, the poor are still poor, the middleclass has eeked out miniscule gains (though those are probably all gone - post crash) and the rich have gotten much richer.

i think i see your point. your saying that the elite few have all the money and power.these very few have more money than the rest of the world put together.now they only need to infiltrate our government ,religion and mass media.

If any man have an ear, let him hear

"And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."

And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority

It's no secret they have already infiltrated government and media. It's a question of whether you want to lose your voice entirely or not.

But don't pull me into another of your conspiracy camps. There is no widespread conspiracy, its just that there are plenty who wield outsized power, because of a concentration of wealth, which they use to line there own pockets or enhance their own power for power's sake at the expense of the country and the majority of working people.

This is not a government document and has no real numbers attached to it. It just pie chart made by some political action group. I hope you don't think anyone will take your pie chart seriously. But I do have to admit I did get a good chuck out of it.

We fought a war so we don't need to peddle a bike? We all have energy choices. If you wish to pick the most expensive one that is fine but don't complain about the price of it.

You talk about taxes and I never stated the word taxes. I am glad you are coming around to my way of thinking and riding a bike.
