I installed the 100k hot air furnace with Corntrol and powervent in October. I had a few issues right away, like the room air fan cycling on and off too much, and the fire going out when the outside temps got too warm.

I called the factory and made the adjustments they suggested. Since then, it's been running great. -20 to +45, makes no difference...it's 72 in this 2500 sq. foot house all the time!

I'm happy so far...

Great board!

i have the LMF 100,000 boiler. how do you keep your furnace running when the temps are 30+.

i have a black roof and when the temps get near freezing and it is sunny, the house warms up and the stats don't call for heat. then the fire goes out.

i'm curious how you deal with warm temps.

thanks

When I was having those problems, I spoke with a tech at LMF. I wasn't allowing enough air through the combustion fan. I'll attach a pic of where it's set now.

They also told me to reduce my draft to .02, and you'll need a manometer to do this accurately. Before I installed the manometer I was trying to regulate my draft by guessing, and it was way too high.

I increased my MIN feed to 9, and I don't know how that would correlate to yours if you're not using the Corntrol system.

Those changes did it for me...now when the furnace is idling, there's a very small fire way down in the bottom of the pot and it fires right up when the house cools down and the Corntrol thermostat calls for heat.

Where did you get your manometer? How much was it?

Did you ever run w/o the Corntrol? How much nicer is it? (I'm not sure I am worth the extra money )

My manometer is a Dwyer Model 25 Mark II. I had my local plumbing and heating shop order it for me...it was about 45 bucks. Probably could have done better online, but I didn't want to mess with it.

This is my first furnace, and it came with the Corntrol already installed. I've heard that they now come on all LMF's unless you specify you don't want one. I don't know how it compares to the timer method, but this one is pretty much "set it and forget it" so far. The room temperature never varies more than plus or minus one degree.

It's supposed to save fuel, but I don't have anything to compare it to.

Thanks for the info. I never installed a manometer on my furnace. I moved into the house and the furnace was installed (Awesome deal!) and the dealer said if I was not having any draft problems he doesn't install one.

IIRC the corntrol was like $400. Maybe I can find a used on on the classifieds.

The manometer is very important to get good low fire to work properly. I have my low fire timer set on 2-12 and it works from 45 f to -35 ( coldest so far) It does have an LDJ variable heat output mod on it though, so I can turn the BTU down to 80K. ( would not heat the house well past -25f).One down side to the LDJ mod is it has a timer for max high fire adjusted to 10min. So when lighting you have a delay of 3 min before the augers start. Unless you turn the off time to 0 for lighting.
This thing is also tied to the heat pump for late spring and early fall and it is getting kind of control "overdone", so I'm thinking of scraping all of it and using small PLC instead.

Have a ldj 100k forced air my self. simmular set up sounds like. I have my pilot timer set 2.2-7.8 during warmer weather so as to maintain a good fire, then cool the house by opening a window.

LMF MFG is in the finishing stages of have the corn-trol available for the biomass boiler. This control will eliminate the need to adjust the timer due to changes in the weather. Please check website or call for availability.
