My Mt.Vernon keeps coming up with the auger jammed error on startup. I have changed the feed motor 2 times and cleaned the optical switch. cant figure it out. I do have the newer board any suggestions? thanks for your help in advance.

Is the set screw tight on the auger shaft? Does the auger reverse at all, like it is trying to clear a jam? Is the switch disc aligned properly on the shaft? Is the optical sensor bad? Have you checked wire harness connections for a loose pin, or broken wire? And, what rev control board do you have for a newer board? Did it just start having this code out of the blue, or did something happen? Kap

The motor does reverse as if jammed although its not. The set screw is tight on the auger shaft, but im not sure how to adjust the optical switch. the board is the 456-revc.

I have checked all the wiring. Im kind of getting the feeling its in the sensor adjustment or the shaft disc. How do i go about adjusting or setting these?

If they have not been messed with, they should be in line. Only thing to check is checking that sensor is straddled over disc with holes in it properly. Not touching either side. I would say you need a new sensor maybe, since you already cleaned the optical beam. Kap

Kap, I appreciate the info. I have had a service guy here several times so it has been messed with. A couple different guys has come out and nobody has gotten it fixed, so I'm trying to get it done myself. If I got the whole auger assembly should that fix my sensor alignment issues? I really think this is where the problem lies.

I would just get the sensor. Easy on and off install. Just have to make sure the disc is centered. But then, spare parts are nice too. Kap

Kap, thanks again. I'll try the sensor and see what happens.
