6100 .......I think I'll shoot myself 2 years, 5 months ago #2714

I've read this site for a year or so, and just decided to add my 2 cents now and then. I've had a USSC 6100 for a couple of years and regretted most of it, although it does save alot on LP costs. The next time I'll do some research before buying. After this long I've learned some things through alot of trial and error, as I'm sure alot of you have.
I do have a question; I see alot of talk about clinker pots. I removed my agitator and it helped alot but the clinker can be hard to remove. Is there a picture/directions somewhere of a clinker pot that I can build?

CAptain Dan; This is the direct link to my burn pot parts pictures. You need to build it to fit your stove. Measure your existing burn pot to get the top end dimensions. The top end has the most critical fit requirements. The flange that seals the combustion air needs to be flat. I welded the bottom (the pot) and the flange separately and then joined the flange to the pot. The pot is tapered so the clinker is easy to remove. I have never had a clinker bond to the pot either. I used to use a clinger hanger to pull out the clinker but now I wear a heavy insulated leather glove and pull the hot burn pot after it quits smoking and dump the clinker in the ash pan.
The depth of the pot may be limited by the ash pan or anything under it. It shouldn't be so low that combustion air can't get under the pot-probably about 4" below the flange. Air has to get to the front side. I have more larger holes on the front side. You can always enlarge holes if you need to "tune" the pot. I did on the first pot I built.

Countryside 3500P (pedestal version) used 10 yrs, 24/7 during days requiring heat. All original motors. Burns moldy corn, and pellets equally well. Burn it if you got it.

I have a Pinnacle Emerald which has a clinker pot I can change the clinker while it is still burning. Directions showed how to it takes a couple of times to get the hang of it. I purge more corn into the stove get it burning then shut the stove off.Stove came with a long pry rod pop clinker loose and I grab it with a pair of tongs shut the door and turn back on no relighting can be done in about 30 sec. no need to pull the pot only when I clean.Hope this helps.
If it's biomass and I can get it thru my stove I'll burn it.4rth yr burning with a Pinnacle Emerald and 3rd yr 1020 American Royal Biomass boiler.Wife loves the heat.
