Myself, I attended the funeral last week of a neighbour from down the road. He was a softspoken fellow who tended to stick to himself, so we generally respected his space. We'd drop in to see him once a year or so, and maybe bring him a bottle at Christmas, that sort of thing but not much else. Listening to the eulogies and speaking with his family, though, I got to learn more about him; and what I heard was quite moving. It made me sad that I didn't make enough of an effort to know this gentle giant better when I had the chance. So that was a life lesson for me, and one that you already know, grk. You were there when it mattered, and now you can cherish the memories. I hope that this helps at least a bit. Bless you, too!
