Hi, it has been awhile since I have had any issues, but need some input before I start tearing thins apart. I have a bixby 115 and it all the sudden has started overheating when I burn on higher than 5. Any suggestions on what items to check would be greatly appreciated.

Also, is Bixby still building new stoves or is the 120 it?

could be blocked exhaust, dirty stove, bad snap switch, also hi temp cutout in convection fan, (not repairable)

I had that happen a month or so ago. I guess I had a lapse of cleaning around the convection tubes as after I did that it ran good again. You could try leaving a side panel off.
Bixby hasn't made stoves since 2007 when the 120s were built.

Just cleaned it the other day. I clean behind tubes with a clothes hanger, but have not used a shop vac. Will try that and see if it makes a difference. thanks.

What do you mean by overheating? E.g.,

1) going into hi temp pullback mode while TC hits 250, as indicated by 8 flashing lights? forum.iburncorn.com/wiki/index.php/Bixby#All_8_lights_flashing, or perhaps

2) error code 3?

Do you have a thermostat connected?

Error Code 3. Works good on 5, shuts down in 20 minutes on level 6. No thermostat connected. Will look at provided link. Thanks. Rick

I am going to change filter, clean behind tubes with a shop vac (usually just a clothes hanger) and turn fuel down a bit. I just went from corn mix to all pellets. Flame seems to be ok, door a little more sooty in upper 3rd than with corn. I only used stove a few times last year since it was so warm in Cincinnati. I didnt feel with the couple of times I used it that I needed to chimney sweep the exhaust pipe. I will do that if the other items dont fix it. Thanks again.

Rick, I just added another piece of info to the #3 shutdown link that you just reviewed.
forum.iburncorn.com/wiki/index.php/Bixby#Light_.238 .

It describes how the TC reading could also trigger a #3 error; i.e., in the case of a failed hi temp pullback, which I'd think unlikely at heat level 6 if your TC is positioned and working correctly. forum.iburncorn.com/wiki/index.php/BixbyFAQ#Thermocouple
