I have lights 2 and 6 coming on when I try to light my stove. Now light 6 is blinking by itself and it says to contact dealer but there is no such thing that I know of. Any tips on how to fix the exhaust fan? I can hear the fan start up when I switch it from off to on but then it won't light and just shuts down as the light 6 or lights 6 and 2 come on. I am in the omaha nebraska area and have yet to find someone that knows how to work on these things. Any tips would be great.

Thanks
fichnat

Have someone hold their hand against the end of your exh pipe and they should feel if there is air movement when you turn it on. You should be able to hear it when you hit the on button. Maybe not as the convection fan will also be running. You can also try wiring the exh fan direct to 110 if you are comfortable with electricity.
There is also a exh fan sensor that might be your problem. If you look in the Bixby section of IBC you will find Bixbys Wikki and you should find more information.
If you try taking manifold bolts and screws out be aware they can and will break easily.

Ok,
Tried your advice and held my hand on the end of the exhaust pipe as my wife turned the stove on. Heard the fan kick on and the air starting flowing out the exhaust pipe but light #6 came on and it would not ignite. Not comfortable with electricity so I can't wire it direct. What next? Can this be caused by built up soot or ash? What should I try?

Thanks

Did the fan stay on? What is your exh system like? Straight out the back? no elbows etc? How old is the exh?
You might check that large rubber flex hose for any obstructions. Remove the large filter in the back loosen the clamp holding the flex hose onto the exh system and lay it out straight so you can shine a light through it. Then remove the ash drawer and shine a light inside the opening. You should be able to see straight through that flex hose. I have seen a mouse nest plug that hose and cause problems.
Can you use Bixcheck? It may help find the problem. You could have junk plugging the exhaust path but I am reluctant to tell you to start removing anything on the stove because most of the time bolts will break and then you have a bigger problem.
If we can eliminate the simple causes first you might find the problem. If your exh system is old and failed or maybe a wren (small bird) could have built a nest and plugged the pipe. Sounds unlikely but I have seen both situations in customers stoves.
Maybe the exh fan sensor went bad? I don't know at this point but the items I mentioned have happened and are easier to fix then tearing into the stove for a complicated problem.
How long does the stove run before it shuts down?

Took the back filter off and the hose off and the light shines right through...No obstructions. The pipe goes straight out then makes a 90 degree turn up for 8 feet or so then a 90 degree turn out the house for a foot or so. I can feel the outside air coming in the pipe as I have the stove off of it and I only installed this unit last year so the pipe and all is only 1 season old. Where do I find this sensor and how would I know if its bad? Any other ideas?

Thanks

What fuel did you burn Corn or pellets. And what heat level did you normally use?
Reason for asking is corn is very corrosive and with a longer run and a couple 90s you might be looking at a short lifetime of pipe. The reason is with the cold air coming into the pipe it cools the exhaust and the exh waste will settle in the pipe causing premature pipe failure. If the dealer still had origional pipe stock it may only last a couple years.
However your stove should still start. I'm not sure what to suggest next. I was thinking someone else would have some suggestions.
The exh fan sensor measures the exh fan speed which is changed by the software in the board. I am thinking the exh fan may not be getting up to speed or that sensor slipped out of position somehow.
If you look in the section for Bixby you will find a Wikki and in there will be discussion about that sensor and what it does. I think this will require long nimble fingers if my memory is right.
That sensor usually doesn't fail so maybe we should be looking elsewhere for the reason.
Apparently the fan turns but does not ramp up to speed then slow down like it should. or does it turn then stop? Maybe you could hear it better if you disconnect the convection fan wire. That way the only fan you will hear is the exh fan. I'll do some digging around and see if I can find something.

Ok,
I have the thing apart and I did break 1 manifold bolt with the allen head that ties into the exhaust box that is hooked to the fan. The sensor of course looks just fine but I'm thinking I need to order a new one and one of those manifold bolts if anyone knows where I could buy one?

replace the sensor and go from there.

Thanks

did you check the resistance on the sensor wire?
