TOPIC: Blew the fuse...

Blew the fuse... 2 years, 7 months ago #283

Was burning along great tonight on level 3. All the sudden the stove went totally silent. Tried everything I could think of. Took a volt meter to the main harness where it goes into the control board - nothing. Couldn't even get power out of the back of where power comes into the stove. Popped the little connector out of the back of the stove. What do you know - it has a fuse! Little tiny glass fuse. Luckily Wal-mart has fuses like this in their Christmas stuff. Anyone else ever have this happen? Not sure what to check out.

It could have been a power surge. Do you have the stove plugged in to a surge protector and use the grounded outlets?
Countryside 3500P (pedestal version) used 10 yrs, 24/7 during days requiring heat. All original motors. Burns moldy corn, and pellets equally well. Burn it if you got it.

High quality grounded outlet, but no surge protector. Was sitting right by the stove and didn't notice any flicker or change in the lights, but could have been too quick for that. Of course the fuse that came with the stove is a 6 amp, and all anybody sells is a 5 amp. So we'll see if that 1 amp makes a difference. Will look more places tomorrow for a 6 amp fuse too.
