TOPIC: Fahrenheit Endurance Questions

Fahrenheit Endurance Questions 2 years, 4 months ago #5057

Greetings,

This is my first posting on the new boards.

I have a few questions concerning the Fahrenheit Endurance 50.

Presently heating a 2,400 sq ft house with forced air, I would like to attach the Endurance to our furnace and burn corn and/or wheat.

Reading comments off the old board, I noticed that some of you have had issues with dirty corn – can I burn corn or wheat directly from the combine or must it be cleaned?

Asking this, I also noticed that most problems occurred on heat settings 4 and 5 – is anyone using a thermostat with their furnace? Will it run on setting 3 with a thermostat with fewer problems? Are there problems going from the higher setting to idle and back when the thermostat kicks in or out? What sort of BTU output would I expect on settings 3, 4 and 5?

How about cleaning the unit – how often and how difficult?

Finally, the furnace is located 10 feet from the outside wall, and I have several feet of vertical lift before I would have to vent horizontally – Is this too far, or is a gradual slope better for venting?

Chilly day here in eastern Ontario – below 0’F after 20 degrees below zero last night!

Thanks for your help!

Alan

R&G G:
I burned corn in my Fahrenheit the first year, wheat the second. Corn should be screened after the combine, in my opinion. Cleaner is better. I screened my wheat for a while, but saw it seemed unnecessary, so I stopped. Wheat is a little dirtier than corn; it get blown around by the igniter compressor.

Cleaning is not a problem; just follow the steps in the manual to get the burn parts out for cleaning. I clean once a month with it being used less, (almost daily) than my Bixby (daily). You will find the frequency. Clean stoves burn better.

Can't help on your thermostat or venting.

hello red, bryne stoves will answer you he installs these stovesand would have insight on the piping. I run the thermostat option so far i only turned it to setting 4 yesterday when she was blistering cold also im from eastern ontario around belleville area.. ive had no problems with any change of setting. My house is also in the 2500 sq ft range. I clean my stove about every 2 to 4 weeks depends. it takes about 20 mins mainly pulling the pot out and vaccuming.
