Ok fellas, I bought a 50 and got her all hooked up and running. One problem, it leaks water out the top 90 and horizontal joint on tee. Burning 80% corn 20% pellets on number 4 set for straight corn. Question I was wondering is should I up the trim on the draft to get more heat out the vent to in a sense dry it up? They say these suckers burn efficient but I would think it needs a certain flue temp to keep the vent from premature rot.

One other question what temps are the usual for this stove off the plenum. I'm getting 140 degrees on 4 set for corn

Hello the moisture is most likely from the corn. With any solid burning cornstove venting has to be kept to a minimum. One thing is if your pipe is leaking water your venting connection is leaking fumes as well. You need to seal your pipes. I am not familiar with your setup but the horizontal pipe through the wall should be level or slightly sloped down to drain any condensation outside the house . Where the exhaust meets the cold air.

It's the same corn I burn in my countryside with no problems.

Your dealer mentioned that the pipe manufacturer noticed in one of the pictures that possibly one of the screws was penetrating the inner layer of the piping. Did you check that out yet?

Mark, she is running like a top now. I switched to a little more pellets in the corn and changed to a pellet setting. Im getting 160 degree temps on number 4 and keeping my 1600 sq. ft upstairs and 1600 sq. ft basement nice and toasty. With the cold temps lately, its 68-71 degrees upstairs. Thanks, Chad.

Glad that you have 'er figured out, Pipelayer! Condensate in corn exhaust is tough on pipes. There was one year that I went overboard tuning my Bixby for efficiency. I hadn't noticed until too late that I was getting condensate when running at low heat levels. I had to replace my pipe mid-season that year. Moist corn exhaust is corrosive.

Pipelayer, if you haven't already done this, put a little RTV sealiant over the screw heads to seal them from any exhaust leaks.
