Anyone know if one can add the ignitor system to a P61? My bixby is just not up to burning pellets and another dealership liquidation has a very cheap P61 new and is crosslink boiler adaptable. Thanks

I believe the P61 has the igniter. Here from the Harman site:

Improved ESP (Exhaust Sensing Probe) control
Automatic Ignition
Room temperature sensor
Patented Pellet Pro Feeder & Burn Pot
Large ash pan
Swing-open ash door
Accordion heat exchanger
Air-cooled combustion blower
Over 127 sq. in. of viewing area

The newer ones (P61A) have the automatic ignitor, the older ones did not, hence my quiry as to an update.
But alas my delay lost the stove

Low and behold I got an answer from Harman that the P61 can get a ignitor kit, but told to contact local dealer. What a joke, closest dealer is 150 miles and they never responded to an email I sent over 2 weeks ago! Sent reponse back to Harman stating such.

If you are going to start the stove and just let it run, much cheeper to put a little starting gel or part of a Strike-a-fire (much cheeper) and do a manual start. It is nice to be able to start and stop, but it does eat up the igniter.

While mine was out on my PC45 near the end of last year, I would do it manually, and it's not a big deal.

I was just trying trying to enjoy one of the benefits of Bixby in it's push button starts. I used to start countrysides with half cup pellets/corn with enough lamp oil to wet them (always in cold stove) add them to pot, light, close door, and start. Usually no fuss start without having to babysit till stove got to operating temp as the oil gave enough extra btus. Don't mind occasional start but this winter have only ran the stove 2 days straight before shutting down to cool the house, more like 15 hrs a day. Booze burns to cool (and expensive) to get the job done for me.
