I purchased a new stove this year. After many, many hours of reading it was a very tough decision. I ended up getting the Harman XXV and I absolutely love it. Just wondering if anyone else on this site has one? So much easier clean than my old Quad Mt. Vernon non AE, loved the quad but it was time.

I am burning pellets in this stove. What I like about this particular stove is that it uses a temperature sensing probe rather than a thermostat. It monitors and maintains whatever temp you set it at. If the room does start to overheat the stove will shut down. I installed a Suncourt TW108 through the wall fan in the upper part of my open stairway and it goes into our kitchen which is pretty big. Keeps the whole house nice and toasty. 7 degrees outside right now and it's a nice 75 in the house.

is the fan a direct wire or has electric cord connection? how is the fan noise? Have been thinking about installing one.

It is a direct wire. The fan is super quiet. Even when you turn the fan to high it is very quiet compared to other stoves. They are a very, very nice stove. I have noticed that I actually use less pellets with the Harman compared to the Mt. Vernon. I think this is because it monitors the temperature so well and maintains whatever temp you have it set at versus the room reaching a specified temp on a thermostat and then shutting off and then restarting when it lowers. You will not be disappointed if you decide to install one.

Hey Franny,

Wow...I was just a little off base there huh? Sorry about that. The Suncourt fan that I installed is corded. It has a 10 foot grounded cord. There are two speed settings on it. I think it is quiet. They do make a model TW208 that is hard wired.

Hello Deecee,
I saw your post I hope you will still answer even though it is old.We are trying to decide between two stoves which are the xxv-Harman or the Mt.Vernon AE-Quadrafire.I would like to ask you what made your mind up.We are having a hard time making a decision.
We are heating a big old farm house 2200sq feet.It is a two story. We will be placing the stove in the living room,on an outside wall.I want it to look nice and still do a good job at heating. We have looked at both the Harman and the Quadarfire.I have read alot on this forum and seems that the Quadrafires have igniter problems but it also has a battery back up.We do have power outages.Last year at least five times.
Service is also very important to us. My husband travels somtimes for work and my daughter and are left on our own.If I run into problems I would like some good service and I read that the harman doesn't have good service.
Please anyone or you deecee help us make a decision.

Hi iluvheat,

The Harman service where I live is very good, I can't speak for other areas. The Harman XXV and the Quadrafire Mt. Vernon are both very good stoves and both put out exceptional heat. The reason I chose the Harman XXV over the Mt. Vernon basically came down to ease of cleaning. The Harman is a bit easier to clean than the Mt. Vernon. There are no baffles to remove to clean get at the heat exchanger. The Harman monitors the room temperature by the use of temperature sensing probe, it is essentially a thermostat. Wherever you place is the spot that the temperature is monitored. The Harman can be set up for room temperature or stove temperature. The Harman feeds pellets from the bottom so it actually pushes out any ash that is in the burn pot. You still have to scrape the the burn pot occasionally to loosen any clinkers, but that is really easy to do. I actually owned a previous model of the Mt. Vernon and it was a work horse, just a lot of work to clean. I hope that I helped you. Please let me know what stove you decide to go with.
