Hi,

I was wondering what stove you purchased? We have had our first real cold spell and the stove is pumping some nice heat into the house. I work the early shift to cover any needed road salting and yesterday was the first day that I actually had to take out the salt truck.

Hello Deecee,
Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. We were very busy with the holidays.I wanted to tell you that after talking to you and reading alot on this fourm. We decided to go with the harman xxv.We found a dealer that is very close to where we live.We had it installed on December 23 our Christmas gift, the xxv stoves were on back order. We had to wait two weeks for it to come in.What a long two weeks that was.We are so happy with the stove.I just cleaned it for the first time today. It was very easy to do.I did tell you I love our stove. We are still trying to figure out the adjustments on it.I am very confident that I will get them just right with a little time and some playing.
Deecee I realy want to thank you again for all your help and everyone else that took the time to answer my questions.I hope the dealer will be just as good as the stove when and if we need help.He said I could call him with any questions.I really do love the stove.
Thanks again and Happy New Year

I just recently purchased the XXV.....

I am very pleased about it...the one thing that seems to bother me is the humming noise that comes from the fan. It's most prevelant when the flame is gone and the stove is pumping out the remaining heat. Is there a way to reduce the humming noise?

Thanks for your help

Hi iluvheat,

You are going to love your Harman, I do mine. I have mine set for room temp, at about 72 degrees, I have the feed set a little over 3, and the blower is set about in the middle. That seems to work best for me, but you may set yours a little different depending on your home. I am glad I could help. Wishing you and yours a very Happy and Healthy New Year. Stay warm.

Hi cfrat,

As far as I know there is no way to reduce the sound. The blower will run at a very low speed until the stove reaches a specified temperature.

So I had the dealer come to the house to listen to it....he said that it's the combustion motor making the noise, he said to give it 2 weeks, if the noise doesn't go away he would replace it for me. Its not really loud...but its a faint humming noise that is getting annoying. Hopefully it goes away.

On another note, I've been messing around with the controls to figure out whats the best setting for my house. Im finding that around 70 degrees, and the fan at mid way to high heats my main room well. Though the heat isn't traveling well enough to the rest of my house (I will be placing a through the wall fan in to help this).

Should I turn the heat up higher than 70? What exactly does the feeder setting do? I have it set on 4....should I increase it to 5?

Thanks for any help that anyone can provide me.

Hello Deecee and cfrat,
I have set our stove temp.at 80.This is so the igniter will not be working so hard having to go on and off with the tempature being to low and stove having to relight.I have the feed set at two when it is about 42 to 47 outside.I turn the feed up to about 3 or 4 when it gets colder outside like in the 20's or 30's.The fan is set at medium blowing and I have not touched it seen we got the stove installed.I have had no noise problems ever.Knock on wood and I hope we won't.
I am not sure about my logic with the tempature setting but that can be open for discussion.LoL!!I do know that I use quiet alot of pellets when I turn up the feed.I was thinking this stove would save us money on our eletric bill.We will see when we get the bill in February.I was wondering how many pellets do you go through in a month?
We still have alot of remodeling to do and with that comes new insulation. The upstairs seems to be much warmer now.We have decided to leave a hole in the living room where the old fire place stood and place a real nice grate over it.We are hoping this will take place of us needing a fan for the heat to go upstairs. We have one in the dinning room and the room above gets very toasty. What do you think Deecee? I know you said you used a fan Through the wall is that correct? I was not quiet sure how you did your set-up.
Once again I just want to say Thank You Deecee I really do love my stove.I have one more question did you get the fake logs that can be set in the stove for looks.I was thinking I might like that but thought it might get in the way for burning.
Take care and stay warm,
iluvheat

I just purchased a room to room fan. So far its helping heat the rest of the house.

The fan I bought is here: www.iaqsource.com/product.php?p=broan-nu...785&category=885

It fit snug in between 2 studs in the wall, I purchased a dimmer switch that controls the setting, the fan itself says on HI, and I use the dimmer switch on the wall to control the speed.

As for the setting on my stove itself, I guess its still a work in progress. I've been trying to use it on "stove temp", i keep the fan towards Low, and the feeder on 3. Its been in the 20's outside and my house has been been about 74 all day, the other side of the house about 66. The only thing is ive been going through more pellets than I thought I would be. I thought a bag would last me a full day, it seems that a bag is only lasting me about 12-16 hrs, so its like a bag and half a day.

The more I keep trying things the more I figure out, but for anyone who's reading this who is interested in buying a XXV....I HIGHLY recommend it.

Hi cfrat,
Thank you for the web site for the fan.I go through two bags of pellets in a day to heat the house. The other rooms that are blocked from the stove stay cold so we use our whole house furnace when it gets to cold. I am hoping that as we continue with the remodel and insulate more we will use less pellets or will not need the furnace. That will save us a lot of money.I will keep you informed. Please let me know if the fan helps with the heat being distributed through your home.
Stay Warm,
