I do burn just pellets with corn prices so high this year.I have plugged the bottom holes in the fire pot. I do not have the pellet conversion kit. Can you give me some info on this kit? How far open should the fresh air blower be open?
Do you have any recommendations for setting the low fire timer and variable fire timer?

Cracked Corn had this in a post not long ago. This dealer has the conversion kits.

The Copper flighting on the auger is replaced with larger PVC and the bin auger motor is replaced from 4 RPM to 3 RPM. The end that goes to the burn pot auger has a nipple for air to blow up thru the burn pot. The bushing in the burn pot auger is replaced from nylon to aluminum. The fan has has a tee that part goes to the end of the bin auger flighting. There were some pictures last year, but when I went to look, they had been removed.

As far as settings, I some stated they have theirs open real far, but I have an external 6" stainless chimney with a good draft, so I keep mine about a finger tip open (maybe 1/8 open???) I don't have the screws in the bottom of mine, but I run my boiler hotter than most, I idle around 190+ degrees. I have my settings set around 90-120K BTU depending on how cold out it is. This past spring, I checked the door temps at 90K, and was reading 650 degrees! She puts out some great heat! I was mixing a little corn with this and hope to get at least a ton this year.

Alright guys I need help, my auger tube caught fire last nite. I can't find out where i can get the pellet conversion kit either. The problem with my system is that the hopper auger feeds to fast so that it jams in the elbow that feeds the burn pot auger and the burn pot auger can't keep up. So the fire got so low in the pot because of no pellets that the fire traveled up the burn pot auger tube and started the jammed pellets in the elbow on fire and melted it. I also need the auger balancing collar that center the burn pot auger in the tube because that melted. plese help.

Did you call them? Maybe we should put a note in CC's post if they don't handle them. Good Luck.

Do you have a 100k or 165k unit? That will narrow down what you need to get your kit together.

I have a 100k furnace which didn't require any auger motor replacement. I don't have pictures of the kit at the moment but I can try to get some for you.

In the mean time here is what the kit entails:

Feed tube from bin to burn pot auger is 2.5" SCH40 PVC (actually conduit). The elbow on the end of this is tapped with a small (maybe 1/2") barbed elbow threaded in. There is a short section of flex hose that connects to 3/4" EMT that bends around the front of the furnace and to a tee (with a bushing) where the combustion blower is.

Hopefully this helps a bit...

I have had the same problem , I put screws in the bottom row of holes, with dow corning high temp (red colored sealant) , burning just pellets works fine. combustion blower on pot open about half way, have damper closed 1/4 , no smoke back up in auger or bin like before. I just this week started adding clean dry corn , (1 five gallon pail to two bags of wood pellets), my boiler is a weil mclain cast iron and used to be a wood and coal hand fired boiler that I bought the fire pot augers , bin and timers from Big M manufacturing and converted it. Now i'm running on just the temperature setting on the boiler. about 180-190 degrees , and running circulating pump in one zone all the time , and the other zone by thermostat. My problme is the off and on timer from orion isn't working bought a new one still doesnt' work , can't find the booklets on all the controls and stuff, maybe burned out a transformer ,but don't know. Are alot of these parts available from Granger?
