Thanks, but I was asking about the corn combustion fan settings, where it is very important.

I am running with the fan open maybe 1/4 to 1/8. Seems to be working great good luck. I have had my unit since 2008, what a cost savings vs propane.

My draft is usually reading right at 0.05. Thats where I like to keep it. My fan opening as I mentioned to Kevin is about 1/4 to 1/8 and its burning great.

So there is draft into the burn pot auger? How is this plumbed on the draft blower side?

See the attached photo. This photo is looking down onto the small blower. The blower used to be mounted on the left side of the unit and blow directly into the pot from the left (when facing the front of the unit). Now with the conversion kit, they T the connection and also bring air around the other side. Now you have air blowing into the pot from opposite directions. This has eliminated the smoke traveling up the feed auger and back into the bin which holds the pellets.

This might be a stupid question, are the new stoves being sold this way? "IF" it is added on as after market change, does it change or void the UL listing for the unit? You couldn't upgrade to variable feed with more rmp motors and timer for feed control, and stronge blower moter for combustion, without voiding the UL listing for the unit. Just wondering for insurance purposes????

I remember someone on the old forum doing this. OMG what a verbal beating they took... Now a factory mod. Where does one find out about these conversions? Nothing on LDJ website. I e-mailed them and no response. Most of Their website hasn't been updated in many years. Makes me wonder about LDJ mfg.
If your going to give someone a piece of your mind, make sure you can live with what you have left.

I talked to LDJ on the phone, but didn't think about asking the question till later. If it works, it is well worth the stink of the smoke from getting into the bin!!!!. They said the larger feed auger pipe from the bin would handle the inconsistancy of the pellet lengths, and I have has some come out of the bag looking like pencils. I had some pellets only burning this spring and the way I had the settings, the fire was at the bottom of the burn pot, and beleive me, that is dangerous. The burn pot auger tube was hot and smokey. That is why they give new settings for pellets only, and change the 4 rpm to 3 rpm motor for the bin. I am going to purchase a kit this summer, since I will be burning a lot more pellets than corn unless the price keeps on coming down. I have about 4 tons of pellets from this year left, and may get 2 more before summer, since they are cheeper than in the fall. Will still get 5 to 6 tons of corn, but really hoping the price keeps dropping as the oil prices keep dropping.
