The meter displayed it as xxx. The settings I have for ohms are

2000k
200k
20k
2000
200

2000k is the only one that had a steady reading..

Thanks for the assistance!

Did you get another pot and try to increase your feed rate
yet?

Not yet, I've been looking at POT's online.. The one that is currently on the stove has more terminals than most i am seeing. There are the 3 terminals near the bottom, but also 2 terminals on the back of it with wires soldered on..

(on the back of the pot) it looks like 1 connection has two wires, one to the auger motor and one to the fan control. the second connection has one wire, which goes to #1 on the timer.

I can't find any online that look similar to that..

Haha I'm looking at the wiring diagram and thinking these are ground wires now on the back of it.. will update this weekend after tinkering with it.

Looking at the diagram the HOT wire is switched thru out
the system. The neutral goes to each device / motor.

The switch just turns power on / off to the auger motor thru
the timer. The snap switch must be on / hot and the main switch
needs to be in AUTO.

The three terminals on the pot are \ | /
1 2 3
The center one is the wiper. When pot is moved the wiper
travels from end to end to give the variable resistance
per the value of the pot.
If one uses 1 & 2 the resistance will go up when the pot
is turn CC. If 2 & 3 are used the resistance will go up
when the pot is turned CW.
If one measures from terminal 1 to 3 this will give the
value of the pot.
Radio Shack has pots and add on switches.

Yep that sounds about right. Sorry I meant to say neutral not ground.. It looks like those wires are just soldered directly onto the metal casing.

I've tested again just to be sure. The fact that the meter doesn't put out a reading unless it's on 2000k is somewhat puzzling me. Anywho, I'm going to hit radio shack and grab one to play with on Saturday. I was digging through their drawers before searching for something to control the exhaust fan. Updates to follow.

Thanks again!

You do not want to use a potentiometer (pot) on any
motor directly!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you go look in the old forum under US Stove you will find
some info that shows how to use a light dimmer to vary the
speed of the exhaust blower. If I remember correctly it was
a 600W dimmer.

I used a dimmer at first, but then purchased a motor controller, pretty much the same one that controls the room blower. All good..

Radio Shack was a complete failure. They didn't have any 1k pots.. Said it was special order. I'm looking online and these aren't the easiest things to find.

The rating of the one currently on the stove says
3watt @ 125v
1watt @ 250v

I found this one on ebay but the shipping from Taiwan is ridiculous.. expected delivery in March. www.ebay.com/itm/high-power-Control-Pote...;hash=item1e616cd60c

Lol still looking around. Looks like I won't be updating the post this weekend though.
