well the install didnt go so well. i took pictures of the old and new potentiometers. the old one does in fact have 2 terminals on the back of it. after removing the solder and wire insulation i was able to see this clearly. the wires weren't just soldered to the back of the casing..

old pot #1

old pot #2

old pot #3

when i hooked up the new one, the motor was constantly running. it also zapped the **** out of my hand when i grabbed the screw to turn it (no knob). now it looks burnt and it just blows a fuse when the stove is turned on.. lol.

new pot #1

new pot #2

new pot #3

maybe those aren't neutral wires? it's hard to tell in the pictures, but on the new pot in #1 and #2 you can see the dark spot on the front of it and on the threading. the third picture is just referencing where i soldered the wires that lead to the auto off/fan speed and timer.

this is a shot of the wiring diagram

I have heard someone say they make the auger motor in 1,2,or 3 RPMs. This may be an easier route to deliver more fuel.

You are correct you hooked the power to the auger motor directly to the
case of the pot. Hope you did not get injured or hurt the components on
the stove. When changing parts one MUST look at the old for guidance and
reference.

Stove is good. I soldered the old one back on.. It was hard to tell if it was soldered directly to the case or terminals because of the shrink wrap covering the wires.. Oh well, lesson learned.

I've got a pot switch in the mail inbound from Nebraska. Will report back once the sparks are flying again.

I picked up a 1m ohm switch / power switch and hooked it up. The increased fuel delivery works, but to be honest I'm tired of burning pellets in this thing. I made a metal ash bucket with (2) 1/4" screens on the bottom. When I dump the ash I can shake it out and then dump the hot embers back into the burn pot.

I've been burning my floor a little from them falling out and getting soot EVERYWHERE in the dining room. I empty the burn pot twice a day and have to clean my dining room a few times a week.

On Friday my USSC 6041 is getting delivered. I decided to make the switch to a stove more suitable for my needs.

On a side note, if you look at the recycle timer on Sparta's website, theirs clearly shows on the casing that it is a 500k ohm timer. (for anyone else who would like to attempt this)
