TOPIC: Soy beans in a 4100

Soy beans in a 4100 6 months, 2 weeks ago #15916

I'm back I know y'all missed me any who I have approximately 10 tons of soy beans that were given to me. I am wandering if the oil in them would gum everything up if I burnt them and if there even worth burning since I never heard of anyone burning them I'd imagine they don't give off enough BTU's

Be real careful soy beans burn extremely hot. Oil makes lots of smoke and smells quite a bit. Mixed some with pellets, two winters ago. Would not burn straight beans.

Never had an opportunity to burn soy beans, but I would if I could. I've heard you want a MAX of 30% beans with your mix. I'd start lower than that and experiment.

All soy beans in a 4100 would make a 4100 bio-diesel

Sell the 10 tons of beans and buy 20 + tons of corn.

I have burned them in my stove, only mixing a little with corn and pellets. I first put them in a tray on top of my stove (whole stove gets hot) and dry them down to almost bone dry before I put them in to burn.

I would not suggest burning more than a little with a mixture. The oily smoke would cause ash to cling the your exhaust and could possibly start a fire. (IMHO)
