If you are using the negative pressure kit, does your flame always lean heavy to the left (exhaust side)? I am thinking that I have too much combustion air and it is pushing the flame to the left.
You can pour syrup on poop, but that don't make it pancakes.

I change the "flame position" with the pin favoring the right side slightly so more heat travels across pipes to exhaust side. The air valve on mine is set 7/32nds and flame is very perky at low settings and burns clean at all settings. I wanted to be able to burn wide open if needed because that is when you really need it

Just a thought, are the ashes equally distributed (right and left) when you dump pot? If they are, pin is good.

Hi TFG
Yes my ashes are evenly distributed as well as the flame base. What I am referring to is that it looks like a wind is blowing the flame toward the left side. The flame comes up from the bottom fine, but then takes a left. I am not sure how far open my air is set. Been a while since I set it. Maybe tomorrow I will have time to check it. Thanks!

Have you cleaned real well in back of baffle? If that is plugged I would guess you would have a narrow exhaust path that would also cause what you're seeing
On #2 setting the spot in middle above door but below air vents runs 320* on mine. If your running too much air I would think it would be noticably less.

OK...
Cleaned the stove to showroom quality (almost). Set air to 13/64 gap. Was much wider. Maybe 5/16ish. The flame still leans some but less than before. My air temp at setting 2 is 120°. TFG...you said yours is 320° at #2. That seems pretty hot. Are you talking about the surface of the stove above the door?

Just checked at wide open fuel and wide open blower...185°

Good work cz Yes the 320 is on surface and air temp sounds good if your in front of room air grill an inch or two and not touching anything. That 120* will climb 10* or so when pot gets more hot coals accumulated. Valve gap sounds very good and should give you good heat at high settings. If you're ever curious I have kept good records of temps at most settings. The 185 in front of air outlet may climb higher as stove heats and pot fills alittle. I'll check my highest temps. If your house is cold drawing cold air into the stove will affect air coming out also

It started doing the leaning flame thing again.

Looks like a decent sized flame, what auger setting is that?

Do you have any modifications going (ie, tfgrower's version of the energy plate)?

When you clean behind the baffle, do you find more buildup on the right side of the baffle?

By the way, I notice your glass is really clean. Was this just fired up again recently? My glass always eventually develops a film of soot/ash, but it's a lot lighter/thinner with the negative draft kit then without.
