cz How is the potato masher holding up?

Great! I think it will last the rest of the burning season. Plus, it's just too easy to use. I'm glad I ran out of hardware cloth and was forced to try it.

That is amazing! I just ordered 4 stainless steel ones for $2.00@ + shipping. Stainless will last longer than carbon steel. Is yours stainless? Having to think outside of the box is a good thing I was just running out of #9 and 1/4 mesh so thout I'd try this first. Do you just whack off the ashes and put it back in each use or use two?

I must ask what you guys are talking about.

That idea is awesome. Do you use it for pellets or just corn?

He is using with pellets but may work with corn. It would be perfect with a mix also.
Are you getting more heat Jeff

TFG, I am getting more heat. The house was up to 72 degrees Sunday morning with outside temp. at 6 degrees. Before opening the valve, the house would have been struggling to maintain 62 degrees. I am so thankful to you and cz. Simply amazing.

Last night I was wanting to see what it could now do after a good cleaning, still need to get something to get behind the baffle wall. I had room fan wide open and feed rate at 3. I couldn't be happier.

I like the potato masher idea. I want to find a way to be able to remove ash and clinker without needing to shut the stove down. It is such a messy job cleaning the stove each time I shut it down.

A bent coat hanger will get you by and tapping back baffle with small hammer or tool will help. It is important there is no build up back there.
By cleaning stove each time you clean pot, to what extent are you cleaning?
It sounds like stove is working pretty well, that's good.

Try this trick. When needing to pull the clinker/ash, turn the rocker switch from Auto to Off. Wait a few seconds for the flame to die down. Open door and remove clinker or scoop ash out with a metal scoop but shake the red hots back into the fire pot. Place clinker or ash into a metal pail. Close door and set rocker back to Auto. Fire will take off again without relighting. If it takes you too long you will have to relight but 99% of the time it just restarts.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I was away for a conference. Upon returning home last night, armed with a new dryer lint brush, I was ready to have my stove running like the "pros". I cleaned the stove behind the baffle wall. I cleaned the pipes, top row and bottom, with a toothbrush. I used the air compressor in the exhaust hole. I cleaned that thing like I never cleaned before. My arms were covered black up to my elbows. I turn the stove on. Set the feed rate at 5, room blower wide open, and with in 5 minutes the room blower turns off because the fire, despite burn hot and high, isn't keeping the heat things open. My wife reported that this started happening the day after I reported that we are burning hot. Unfortunately, that no longer is true. Ugh!!!!

Well better find a dealer and buy a thermo disc. It can't be hot motors because they both would not shut off at same time. Find a dealer on left or perhaps a dealer on this site will help you.

tfg,

As an experiment, I ran some corn through the stove. Didn't shut it down to clean before and started it right as the pellets were running out. I figured if the thermo disc is bad, then I will get the same results regardless of what fuel I burn. Surprisingly, with the corn it didn't matter what the feed rate was, the room fan wouldn't turn off. I believe, when running corn, that the stove was functioning the way it was designed to. It functioned like it did before I installed the conversion kit.

Good test Jeff. I am sitting here scratching my head and the only thing I'm getting is a sore head. I need to think about this one awhile.
