Up to speed now

Baby Boiler got hot last night and the season began burning crappy waste paper pellets.

Pic of the bin agitator system that I had to build to make the fuel flow to the cup auger attached.

The other upgrade this season was a timer contraption for an infinitely variable feed cup speed - it is surprising what adding only 6 seconds of on time will do the fire pot event. But that is still is sort of wiring hell - unfortunately, one of the timers failed already so I have some patch connections that don't need airing to the public internet right now.

Glad to hear you brought it on line. We are in a real cold snap and mine has been going non stop all night. Would not be so bad with out the 50Km per hour wind gusts.

Sting, want to share the details on what you ended up doing to make feed cup speed adjustable?

yes

but not before I have tested a little more and have replaced the faulty timer

no use looking even more stupid than I have if this is a botch job

first -- its a push right now if there may or may not be a payback to these contraptions. While I wouldn't be able to burn the waste paper without the bin augers - burning waste paper so far has just been a waste. The cost savings is well offset by the drama and far lower btu output than manufacture claims. And I knew it was going to be less after the first couple of skids - but on its own - its just crap.

Second is the infinite cup feed adjustment - the same thing can be accomplished with the factory block in the feed cup or my hard wood spacers. Tinkering with contraptions just gives another part to fail in an otherwise bullet proof system. But = when your infected with "tinkeritus" as I am - its a grin to fiddle / diddle around with the dip switches.

9and 2a0 - I made this out of crap I had laying around - if you duplicate -ir's going to be hundreds of dollars in off the shelf items. You have to ask yourself as I should have earlier years ago when corn was 70 a ton and somehow we knew it would go higher --- Is it worth it?

I think it is as I walk on my warm floor and enjoy endless amounts of hot water from my boiler.

I tell the people that buy pellet stoves that they are buying a hobby and it will take a bit of work to figure it all out.
