Perfect! The new igniter showed up today, I replaced the old with the new, and the stove is firing up right now just like old times. Couldn't have done it without your instructions.

1. Before I changed out the igniter, I made sure to run my fingers along the wires to see how the wires hang up out of the way of the self-cleaning mechanism;
2. I felt the wires to see how they exit the back of the drawer. Getting the old wires out through that small hole was a pain because of the spade connectors. I finally just cut the spades off;
3. Threading the new wires through that hole is a pain as well. Like you said, just have to kind of work them through. I managed to get the first spade through. The second spade required sort of a downward push and a little force forward. Took some time to figure it out.
4. Made sure that the washer was on the inside of the housing as a spacer.
5. I'll now order a second igniter as a spare.

"i would have bought two and saved some shipping" ....yeah, well..You assume that I'm smart enough to order the right part the first time. And I've never dealt with this supplier before so I figured I'd order in one igniter to test things out. Shipping is cheap so I wouldn't have saved much.

Thanks again for your help!

glad you are up and running. you just have to turn them upside down to squeeze thru the hole. it is a tight fit, but they do go thru. lol you are now on your way to becoming an official service tech. lol just out of curiousity, what number of igniter did you get? they make two kinds. one 300 watt just for pellet burners, and the standard one that is 380watts. kap

No idea on the wattage. I tried to look on the websites to see what I ordered, but don't see a wattage. p/n SRV7000-462 18" loop igniter is all I find.

that is the standard igniter. the 300 watt has a 647 number. they made it so those that burn strictly pellets, can buy this igniter so it will last longer since it is lower wattage.

March 12, 2010 -- New Firepot Installed -- Called the dealer and asked them about the new firepot. They gave it under warranty. What a difference in the speed that corn lights. The corn starts smoking about as soon as it hits the pot now and the fire starts in 1/2 the time as it was before. HUGE IMPROVEMENT as far as lighting goes. We'll see about the igniter.

Yes, and it is suppose to be strictly for people that burn only pellets, last i knew. And quad still needs to come up with a fuel table that reduces the amount of "on time" that the igniter is on. It is still on for 26 minutes on corn table. This is what burns them out.

Just had my 3rd or 4th one go out (I've lost count). I'm starting to average about 1/yr.

My last one was from the dealer. It was the 380W version. I mainly only burn pellets on the sunflower setting.
Is getting the 300W any better, would it last longer?

Anything new lately on keeping these things running longer? I did the burn pot mod many years ago (drilled holes) and I use washers to space the igniter. Anything new, or any bargain places to get these? $50 from my dealer.

Yes, the 300watt would last longer. That is the reason quad came out with them. But they are strictly for pellets. Have you modified the igniter housing yet? balls of fire has pics on a post. Witht these mods, corn starts smoking before it is even done dropping the initial feed. That seems like a fair price. kap
