TOPIC: 1200i Classic auger not working

1200i Classic auger not working 1 year, 1 month ago #15376

Stove has been running great until now. I found a melted wire on one of the ones that goes to the auger. Blower comes on when I start the stove, I only get a blue flashing light. Igniter comes on, auger will not turn. Applying power directly to the auger motor through 110v plug, auger turns fine. I jumped all three snap discs to check for problems, all are working fine. Cleaned out vent tube, not much ash or dirt, and checked the vacuum line between stove and vacuum sensor, all clear. Stove still not working. So, when the wire melted to the auger motor, is it possible it damaged the control board? The wire itself is fine, the plastic melted off it. I've checked everything with a volt meter and it reads okay, except no power to the auger motor. When jumped out with 110v as I said, it comes on. What's next? The control box was new two years ago. I'm frustrated. When I turn on the stove, the blower just runs and runs but nothing else happens except the control box blinking, I think 6 times.

If no power to red wire on vacuum switch, if's wiring to the box or box.

There's power to everything except the auger motor - that clip with multiple wires, which is where one of them melted. Guess the flame was a bit too high and got it too hot back there. Greene Team pellets were very hard to regulate and burned terribly. The vacuum switch has power to it and it's working.

So you also have power coming out of the vacuum switch, orange wire that goes to the auger.

The only time the control box should be blinking blue, is if it has been unplugged, and plugged back in. It is indicating what setting the control box is on. Did you have the stove unplugged, or does it blink blue everytime you turn up thermostat and try to start stove? And the red call light does not come on at all? kap

The stove was unplugged so I could check out the electrical connections without zapping myself. Usually I'm quite good at a nice stiff shock. My wife thinks it was blinking blue the first time she noticed it didn't come on but isn't sure. No call light, no green light, nothing. Blower comes on, no pellet feed. Until that wire melted the stove was working fine. The igniter was on but no pellets. Was going to take the control box to our local dealer but not expecting any help from them. There is no burnt smell from the box.

If not for the no red call light, i would think maybe a capacitor blown. You would not see a green light till you had a fire, and the pot got up to 200 degrees. Do you know someone with a quad stove that you could test your box in? A Sante Fe, or Castile,if not your 1200 brand? If so, i can give you the number to set box at.

And don't forget, any time you are removing, or installing a control box, unplug the stove to prevent shorting it out.

took control box to dealer and they said they didn't have a working stove to test it on because of the time of year. They were setting up their hot tubs so most of the stoves were shoved against the wall. Guess we'll have to just buy a new one and hope that is the problem. Unfortunately we don't know anyone with a quad.

You can send it to me, and i can try it in a stove if you want. Saves buying one if you don't need it, as if the blue lights only came on because it was unplugged, it also could be the capacitor. kap
