I just purchased a house with a Quadrafire Castile insert. The convection blower is not working and the stove shuts down after 10 mins or so. I just replaced snap disk #1 and it is still not working. I also jumped the 2 wires to snap disk and the fan does operate, so I know the fan is good. The control box is original I believe (mfg date on board 2002). The green LED lights up when i jumped the wires and it also lights up after a certain amount of time...my guess is that indicates that the stove is up to temp and the convection blower should come on. I'm at a loss as to what the problem is here. Before replacing the snap disk, I removed the control box from the connector and cleaned the contacts with isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip, and that fixed the issue, but now hasn't worked since. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try next?

Control box has no bearing on when blower comes on, it's all controlled by the snap disc. What color were the wires that attach to the snap disc and have you tested the snap disc to make sure it is working?

The wires are purple. If it's not the snap disk, what else could it be? The snap disk is brand new, but i guess there is the possibility it could be bad. Is there anyway to test the snap disk with a meter?

heat the snap disc with it off the stove and check for continuity after you hear it click. Did you follow the wires back from the disc to make sure something isn't unhooked. I suppose your control box could be bad but I haven't seen one do that. You could take the box to a local dealer and have them test it.

If I jumpered the 2 wires together and it worked, wouldn't that tell me that everything is connected properly? So basically that snap disk is the only thing that would prevent the convection blower from not working, correct?

Correct. #1 snap disc should be hot all the time.(have juice to it). When it heats up and closes, it makes the circuit, and fan should come on. It is the only thing that operates that fan. So, since you jumped the wires together, and can ran, means you have juice to it. So, either bad new snap disc, or bad connections on ends of wires. Kap

Yes, the problem has been resolved. I replaced the snap disk and rechecked the connections to the disk and it works without a problem. I'm not sure if it was the actual snap disk or the connection, but either way it works now. Thanks everyone for your input!
