I will have to do a softwood low, -5 trial then...

When I used it the flame was lazy and smokey.
I like sunflower cause I can run on low and make tons of heat.

I do think the sunflower setting gives the most heat however I have a different question-

The flame height is basically your feed rate correct?

What does running it on low vs medium-low vs medium vs medium-high vs high do? Seems like I get about the same temp coming out regardless and was just wondering, thanks.

You are correct. The flame height is the feed rate. You should get different temps on the other settings tho. These would make the fan run faster or slower with higher or lower temps. The drop tube needs to hit 160*for the conv. fan to run on high.

So... if I am burning it on low with a flame height of -1 vs on high with a flame height on -1- would I burn the same amount of pellets then but get more heat? I'm confused.

The flame height is used to adjust the flame per your owners manual. You set the flame height while running on high. Once that is done, the flame height is set for all heat settings, from low to high. Any more flame, and you are wasting fuel. Any less flame, and you are not getting enough heat. The heat settings are for what amount of heat you need to maintain the desired temp in the house. Now during different conditions outside,or different fuel qualities,or even different fuels, you may need to change the flame height accordingly. Hope this explains things. Kap
