Subject: AE Fuel Tables. - by: tsmith

Does anybody know the difference in fuel tables on the AE? what I am referring to is what settings provide more fuel to the pot as well as combustion air? I know the ignitor on times and autoclean times but was wondering about the fuel and air.

Subject: Hopper Lid Rattle - by: Hibb

I have an AE and the lid for the hopper rattles a lot when the fan is on. I put a piece of fuel under the lid to keep metal to metal and that works some but not for long and I have to adjust where I put the piece of fuel.

Anybody had a solution for this?

Thanks, David

Hi Folks,

Hope everyone has had a Merry Christmas!!! Looks like my dang 1200i has decided to give me fits again this year. As I recall last year about this time it needed a capacitor jumper wire under the hopper. Put that in and it worked great. Now it's acting like the same thing again,it starts and feeds during startup and has a nice tall roaring fire and then will not feed anything.I checked the thermacouple wire and it's all the way to the end of the ceramic cover. I have NO lights neither red or green on on the top of my computer box. I think this is what it did last year,I need to go back and read those old posts on the old forum. Surely I don't need another capacitor jumper wire?

I'll be here staring at this Contrary Stove!!! Thanks!!
On the hearth forum there was a guy on there that said he had a free standing castile, 2003 model. He was having problems removing cast panels in the rear of the stove. I told him he had to remove the stainless panel up top first. He stated he did not have a ss plate, just cast panels on top? Ever hear of this? I sent him links to manuals, he said his was different. I gave him this site to come to for more help, he has not been back since. Been bugging me all afternoon......

BTW, he may come here looking for you, lol......

had a small one as hard as a rock, jammed between the pot floor and the wall of the pot so it couldn't light. luckily i seen it before it was too late, and was able to get it out, throw more corn in the pot, and it fired up before it had to restart.

Subject: MT AE Insert Auger Jam - by: FordMastertech

I keep getting a auger jam message on the thermostat display never had this issue until this year. This it a 10/2006 MT Vernon AE Insert, control board number 7000-456 REV A both 3 inch exhaust and OAK run up to the top of a 15 foot chimney. I am burning pellets at this time never had much luck with the corn in this area. I have removed the auger assembly vacuumed out the hopper/auger tube and looked into the stoves passages with a borascope, found nothing wrong. OAK and exhaust are clean as is the rest of the stove including the vacuum switch hose and nipple on the stove. I removed the auger motor from the gear box and all the gears look and work smooth. Cleaned the optical sensor and adjusted it so the disk is centered. I did find the vacuum switch loose in the metal housing and re glued the switch and checked the switch for continuity and all is good. If I remove the vacuum switch wiring I get the vacuum switch error and the auger stops it resets it self when reconnected and auger starts up again. So wiring and control board must be seeing the vacuum switch operation. I don't notice any difference after it's running when the vacuum switch hose disconnected, auger runs just fine. Not so sure why this is, I figured the auger should stop when hose is disconnected. I have had the auger jam message both on start up and more so lately when it has been running for sometime. When it failed on start up the motor was humming but the auger was not turning or feeding pellets. It seems when I reset the stove that there are no pellets in the auger tube as it takes sometime to get them to feed again, usually dumps a few pellets tries to start but there is not enough pellets in the burn pot to get them to light, then goes into auto clean. Next cycle it fires up and runs great. This may happen a couple times in 1 day or run days with out any issues. Does the auger reverse it self if it is jambed up thus explaining why the loss of pellets on a restart after the auger jam message? I have also used various different brands of pellets but mainly running hammers at this time which tend to be on the smaller side. I am thinking a bad auger motor but maybe a vacuum switch issue also. Sorry for my first post being so long, KAP ya out there, help.

Subject: Keeping glass clean - by: rnlfarwell

After learning on this forum about clinker "hangers" I decided to try one in my Castille. This works great, I no longer have to shut down the stove twice a day, I can just let it run and keep pulling the clinker. However, it makes it hard to clean the glass. Any good ideas on cleaning it when it is hot? Thanks
Subject: FINALLY HAPPENED - by: kappel15

finally took the AE out of mothballs. pulled the rag out of the exhaust. swapped the cap for a 1/4" hardware cloth end on the fresh air. dumped some corn in from last year. plugged it in, threw a big handfull of corn in the pot. fired right up. i had debated just leaving it mothballed all winter, but figured it would be better to use it a bit. got to get rid of 16 buckets of corn from last season.i'm sure there will be times when it gets real cold that i will use it, or when company is here and we eat downstairs.

Subject: Castile Auger Sticks - by: scl

Hi guys, first post here. I have a 4 year old Castile thet won't stay running. It will feed okay for a while, but then the auger won't turn though you can here it engaging. I'm burning 100% pellets. You can then take the auger out and clean the tube, put some pellets back in, and fire it up and it will work okay for a while, sometimes a couple hours, sometimes a day, then it seems like it gets stuck again. I don't know if the auger is getting week or something else. ALso, the vacuum switch isn't working right. I bypassed that for now but we'll have to visit that next. Any thoughts on the auger?
Kap, you are aware of the clinker problem I am having with the Hamer pellets this year. Someone told me to try the Sunflower setting after I told them that Hamer told me I needed lots of air flow to burn their pellets. What fuel setting provides the most airflow? are they different or the same?
