Does anyone here have a SCF-050 do u like it is it a big version of the st croix auburn? I was thinking about buying one used for cheap the guy says it just does work, but was told it just need cleaning.

I would save my money and get either a St Croix Revolution at 60,000 btu or a Bixby UBB at 70,000Btu.
The 050 is underpowered more on the order of a Auburn with a larger hopper and larger convection fan.
I helped a dealer install 3 of that model and ended up removing them as they just didn't have enough BTUs.

really i thot it would be a good stove, but maybe not?

St Croix has a good reputation as far as stoves go but that model won't keep homes warm enough around here in Minn. They just don't put out enough heat as they normally push air up through ductwork and aren't big enough.

wheres a good place to order parts from with st croix stoves. The elec board maybe out on this one what do u think it would cost to fix?

I have one it dose alright. Have two story 1700 sq ft plus 900 basement. It dose good down to -10 to -15 wish it had 5000 more btus. How big of a house are you heating and how well is it insulated?

I have the SCF-050 and it heats my 2-story farmhouse in SE MN with no insulation in the walls. In below-zero weather I sometimes have to supplement a little with the propane furnace, but mostly not.

Nice unit, seems well built. Fairly easy to clean, and easy access to parts that may need replacing over time. It is a 40,000 BTU furnace if I remember correctly, and I don't do any night-time setback (lower temperature) like I used to with propane, since it takes too long to catch up again the next day.

They say the 050 will heat 1500 sq house but I can't with mine if it get down into single digits....I did put a fan in back to help the blower out and it does help, I will not buy another St Croix.....

I have the revolution and it does a nice job. My house is approx. 1400 sq ft with insulation and and new windows. It is an old 5 bedroom home. It stays right at 72 degrees on the coldest of Iowa days and nights. Usually sits on setting 3 when its gets cold. I use no T-stat. as I was told the only time I should consider the t-stat is in the early fall and and spring. The last 2 years should have had a t-stat all winter because its been so mild. The usual Iowa winter cost me around 700.00 to heat this house forthe winter and the last 2 years has been right around 500.00 last year and will be about the same if the wether pattern holds. I use no LP, I just wave at the LP guy when he goes to the neighbors. I would normally use about 4, 500 gal fills (1500.00-2000 dollars) in a winter, now I just top off once a year. I love the revolution
