I have used a 6039 for four years and have had the fresh air kit installed for the last two. Even with the fresh air kit installed, I still notice cold air being pulled in through the oil furnace ducts when the oil furnace isn't running. The 6039 isn't connected to any ducts. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I thought connecting the stove to the outside air would eliminate this, but it hasn't.

If there are no leaks in the 6039 to draw air from the house then it's not the stove creating the cold air coming in. I'm guessing your stove is upstairs and the oil furnace is downstairs?
If so the duct work is getting cold and transferring the cold air through the ducts, probably radiating the cold. Unless you have another leak somewhere in the house drawing the air through, maybe an exhaust fan that doesn't seal well from outside?
Let us know what you find.

I have a rock wall cellar and I had to put covers over my furnace vents. The drafts coming out vents is strong. I think it is just the natural flow of cold air coming through my 150 year old cellar walls. Even with a poured cellar you are going to get some flow from the colder air in cellar and the hotter air up stairs.

Hi,
Thank you! Yes you are correct the stove is upstairs and furnace is downstairs. I must have a leak or leaks as I notice the draft of cold air from several of the registers. Where do you think the best place to start looking for leaks?

We also have rock wall cellar walls which could be very drafty. We can't cover our vents as the oil furnace also runs. The stove is a supplement.

How cold is the cellar? Heated at all? Were are your cold air returns? I have 5 cold air returns upstairs but I have one on the furnace plenum in cellar. Most of my draft was caused by the return in the cellar. Even with that one shut off I still get strong draft from all the furnace vents. This has always baffled me as you would think in the winter with the ground frozen and snow covered the drafts coming through the cellar walls would stop. Just thinking this is normal and I have always had drafts even when I did not have any other source of heat but the furnace. Stronger draft through the vents the colder it gets outside and right now it has been super cold, I know I am not helping much just know you are not the only one.
