TOPIC: 6039 periodic draft fan blinking...

6039 periodic draft fan blinking... 3 months ago #17983

Actually shut down the stove last night because when the light's on it cause it not to feed. I have no idea of the cause. I don't have a fresh air intake. Seems when i adjust the slide it affects it..any ideas? it's not on constantly now but periodically flashes and doesn't seem to matter whether its auto or manual...I'd love to just bypass the damn thing...

Loss of vacuum. Check door seal, hopper seal, nothing holding the hopper lid from sealing. High winds? You don't have FAK so any other fan/door/window not sealed good in the house could cause loss of pressure in the stove.

Also check hose from firebox to vacuum switch and the brass line from end of hose into firebox. You can by pass by connecting the two wires on the vacuum switch together, but it would be best if we figure out why you are losing the vacuum and correcting it.

Look for cracks in the hose were the hose connects to metal piece going to the firebox it gets hot and is known to crack. There is usually enough extra hose to cut the cracked part off and reconnect.

When was the last good cleaning, semi plugged exhaust can also cause loss of vacuum.

Here's what i did...unhooked the hose...blew thru it and then hooked it back up, also tightened the hose clip half a turn. then I made sure my seal around the stirrod was good(dont use the stirrer. i think it might have been the sirrer hat was the problem....not sure. Fixed now and running great. Thanks guys!

Take the two wires off the vacuum switch and connect them together this will by pass the switch then try to burn above 2, let us know if that works.

Please explain what is happening if you burn above 2. I am assuming you are having same problem light blinking as before, if not let us know. As you increase the heat range the stove increases the vacuum. So you still have a leak or blockage somewhere in the system. If you have a barbecue brush lightly run it around the door seal to fluff the gasket. Check your hopper seal to see if there are any pellet or corn pieces jammed into the rubber. If you have some orange or red high heat silicone put some around the stirrer rod bushing as you do not use it. You might have to remove the exhaust blower and clean in that area sometime fly ash builds up in that area and just can not be cleaned without blower removal or the leaf blower trick. Just pulled a friends exhaust blower from a harmon, because he was getting the lost of vacuum and it is now running great.

I once had problems burning above HR 2. I figured out my rodent screen at the end of the exhaust vent was plugged.
