When pulling the room and exhaust fans to clean them, do you have to put in a new gasket or can you reuse the one that is there?

Do you just vacuum the fan blades or is there anything else you need to do to clean them?

Any other advice while the side panels are pulled off?

This is on a 6041

Thank you!

During the burning season you can just vacuum/clean the squirrel cage to keep it running at its best. You should not have to clean/remove exhaust fan unless something really gets plugged. After the heating season you can remove both fans to clean, if you are careful you should be able to reuse both gaskets. If they are to damaged you can use red or orange silicone from auto store to make a new gasket, they are a high temp for gasket making. Also at the end of the season after you clean everything you should spray everything on the interior of the stove with a fogging oil, cooking spray also works. Good idea to spray inside the exhaust while you have it off. The spray helps prevent rust during the summers heat and humidity. Have you read the Wiki on how to install the grease zerk, also a good thing to do then you can grease motors at the end of the season cleaning.

The one thing to remember is that the room fan takes air from the room. Dog/cat hair, dust will all add to making the room fan blades get clogged up faster. Some on the old forum added auto oil filters to the squirrel cage to catch more crude. I like the air to blow a lot of heat when needed and felt like the oil filter slowed it up to much considering the room fan is easy to get to and clean a few times per year.
How much to stove is run will also make cleaning more or less. Never hurts to look at it and keep it clean.

Thank you! I don't use the agitator motor so I haven't put in a grease zerk. There is no way to lubricate the fan motors right? One of them started squeaking the other day so I sprayed some wd-40 on the shafts. Probably only a temp fix though.

wd-40 not so good for lubing electric motors, 3&1 oil is better and anderoil is the best. They talk about it in this post. Two links supplied by some of the best corn burners on this forum. Be aware anderoil is pricey but new motors can cost from 80 to 135 each.
