We've had problems the last few weeks with the exhaust fan in our 6039 ramping (or revving) up. We figured we must have a vacuum leak. We have checked the front of the stove and have some minor warping. We replaced the door seal gasket, and then added the silicone to insure it was fitting properly (cww's suggestion on the old forum). Also did the same with the hopper as the seal on that was looking a little worse for wear. We have a new glass pane (old one cracked over the summer) and new gasket around the glass. We are getting lots of black soot on the glass except for a small semi circle at the base of the glass. Hubby is reluctant to take a hammer to the latch.

Any ideas?? Are we even on the right track thinking the ramping in the exhaust fan is caused by a vacuum leak?

sixs is the draft fan light blinking on and off?
I don't know if you have the same board as me I have the 6300 but I had some problems with mine last month the light was blinking on and off indicating some kind of loss of pressure making the stove act up. At first i thought it was the pressure switch but what it turned out to be was the connections on the switch they were not making good contact, so just cleaning them cleared up the problem.
just my two cents

Does the exhaust or back in the stove need cleaning? A plugged exhaust has the same effect as a vacuum switch problem.
Countryside 3500P (pedestal version) used 10 yrs, 24/7 during days requiring heat. All original motors. Burns moldy corn, and pellets equally well. Burn it if you got it.

Also check the tube going from the fire box to the pressure sensor. It will crack.

Tinman- no blinking lights. Nothing out of the ordinary other than that ramping sound.

Tallcorn- everything is very clean. Hubby has perfected the art of maneuvering that shop vac hose everywhere. He can even get it in the hole behind the back firewall you have to access from the knockout plugs. We us a bottle brush to go down the little holes on top too. Always run the hose down the exhaust tube and clean the T out side every three days. Up until about a week ago we were still running stir rod so we shut down and cleaned once a week. He shut down yesterday and was amazed at the difference!

Blue- I will have him check that.

Thanks everyone, will let you know later what we found out.

Ok, so even though we had already put some silicone on our door gasket, must be more was needed. Hubby got angry and started pulling the foil off the silicone. It came off the top in one piece, but the rest was embedded in the silicone and wouldn't come off. I suggested to hubby that perhaps the reason the top came off easily was because it hadn't been forced into the silicone because it wasn't making great contact....a lightbulb moment!!!

More silicone added and no more ramping noise!! Blue, he is going to check that tube though, thanks for the info. Tinman, we are going to check those connections too!! Many thanks guys!

Grrrrrrr:angry: ....All was fine until hubby tried to decrease the amount of fresh air coming in. The exhaust fan ramped up again and kept doing it until he restored the fresh air back to it's original amount. He did check the fresh air tube and no problem with that. Back to the drawing board.

I had/have the same issue and upon calling US Stove was told that this was perfectly normal for the 6300 and not to worry. I also get a very sooty window when run on low overnight. I clean my window between three to four times a day. I have found US Stove tech support a bit less than helpful. I get a different answer each time I call.

VT - Our stove is 4 years old and this is a brand new problem. That's what has me worried. Change is not good!

thesixs, mine has always ramped up and down, I only notice when I am starting and the room fan is off. Once I am running the room fan is louder than the exhaust so that is all I hear. That is also only if I am not on hr 8 or 9. On those the exhaust fan is constant. Anything lower than hr8 and it ramps on and off. I called and was also told it was normal when I first got it, I was also told that on this site (well the old site!). Now before that issue I did have a cracked air tube where bluewolf said and that was broken in half from the factory. However the problem that caused for me was that the fan stayed on high and no corn fed, so that was a problem at the start.

If you get real desperate you or your husband can come over some night after work and look/listen to mine if that would help .
