TOPIC: Heatilator PS-50 problems already

Heatilator PS-50 problems already 2 years, 5 months ago #2759

Well after about 3 weeks of running great, my Ps-50 heatilator is on the fritz.
Shut it down this afternoon to clean it, let it set for about 3 hours to cool. Cleaned it started it back up went upstairs. Temp dropping in the house so I went down to check, the stove was out. Restarted took off, I went back up. Checked it again an hour later stove is out again! This time I reset it an watched it run for about 10 min. Auger just quit feeding an fire went out. Empty out the hopper, nothing stuck in it. Started checking snap disks, only one (out of 3) is not resettable, found that one to have no continuity. (for convection blower)Retested and found blower does not run when started. (no auger and convection blower)Hope I'm on the right track here. Any other ideas?? Off to get a disk in the morning.

I looked at the manual for your stove and it operates a little differently than I thought. It has a thermocouple to detect if it is burning. You should see if you dislodged any wires while you were cleaning it. After it cooled down you need to follow the fire starting proceedure for the first fire. Reread the manual. There is information that you can miss or forget on first reads (or more).
Countryside 3500P (pedestal version) used 10 yrs, 24/7 during days requiring heat. All original motors. Burns moldy corn, and pellets equally well. Burn it if you got it.

Called the store I bought it from, when threw a few trouble shooting steps. Tried the thermal couple adjust things like that. Finally the tech said to pull the screen from the outlet. Took right off!!!! It was a little grubby, but it fixed the problem!!

A screen over the exhaust termination? They are bad news. They are exposed to moisture and soot collects on them. That causes a backup in the exhaust pressure and the safety devices shut the stove down.
