I own A UGB 1020 I'm heating a 1600 sqft home and I'm going through 3.5-4 bushels a day. Is this a normal amount for this boiler?
any help appreciated

I also have one I am heating 3600 sq ft and I believe I top out around 100-120 lbs of corn just over 2 bu on a cold day maybe a bit more if the wind was severe. When I ran straight sunflowers I averaged right around 57lbs per day that's 2 bu
If it's biomass and I can get it thru my stove I'll burn it.4rth yr burning with a Pinnacle Emerald and 3rd yr 1020 American Royal Biomass boiler.Wife loves the heat.

I thought this might be excessive but i was told that this was normal for this boiler. I was also told that the higher the moisture content the more bu it will burn. Have you messed with your timer settings?

I think every set up will run differently I do play with my timer settings because I am always trying different fuel types and mixtures for the most part mine runs around 4.5 on and 7 off but when temps dropped i changed to 6on and 5 off and my boiler temps only dropped maybe 6-7 degrees. Biggest drop is when my 1800sqft basement slab kicks in it only runs maybe once every day or so. I'm thinking of putting in a mixing valve on that circuit that will remove the major shock load. My low burn timer is set at like 2 on and 12 off. Just remember if you play with your timers make small adjustments and wait some people get to jumpy and are constantly changing the timers and never allow the boiler to settle in on the adjustments. Once you know how your boiler is going to react you can change the timers according to the weather. Set it and forget it.My brother hasn't changed his all year.

Hi again are you getting a complete burn on your corn should be getting nothing more than fused rock hard clinkers and a little ash. What are your timer settings.Another thing how is your feed set up is it gravity into the top auger or is the top auger extended into a bin if that is the case then you will need to build a baffle over the auger^ to slow the intake down that can cause excessive consumption. Allow the grain to flow over and down into the sides of the auger.
