Need a lot more detail about how it is hooked up and underground piping details. What are you trying to heat?

All those btus are going somewhere need to figure out where.

I recently bought a used maxim 175 and every so often it just goes into zombie mode. Still shows temp, but only button I can make work is the power button. I have to turn it off for about 20+ minutes and back on and then it's back to heating. What would you think may be the problem. I have contacted a couple dealers and neither seem to have a clue about the intricate functions of the electronics on this boiler. All ideas welcome.

Well i am using the underground piping that insulated and incased. Heating a house with hot water also, 2 floor heats one 25x25 and 15x15 floor 2 rads in kids rooms, goes to a 16x14 dog kennel and a 28x34 garage that im not heating now trying to save money. So basically the house and whats inside and a dog kennel with 7 doors going in and out all day. I had a wood boiler but had a bad back injury so it had to go. The boiler people said to put a heat tank somewhere in the system, the wood boiler people and the wood pellet boiler people. So i have a 500 gallon tank heavly insulated and in the system. What about the size of pipe in the pellet boiler. Should a person use the 1 inch and quater size or the threequater size outlets. Robert

No reason to have the 500 gallon storage with the pellet boiler. Sounds like you have quite a load though. 85,000 btu per hr may be the real load.

How many cords of wood did you go through?

Well i probably went through 60 face cord. But i usually started it september and didnt shut if off till april. The dealer up here said it was a good idea to have the extra tank in the system. I dont know? I am going to move the boiler so its behind my shop. Wondering what the best way to hook it up? Like should i have a primary circuit and feed off of it? Can you help

60 face cords is equivalent to over 1000 bu of corn or 25 tons of wood pellets. I would say your consumption is about where it would be expected.

I assumed you used dry wood at 20,000,000 btus per full cord or 3 face cords.

I'm just a diyer. I would recommend reading www.heatinghelp.com/products/Hot-Water-H...ry-Pumping-Made-Easy .

Well worth the money. I redid my system the second year after deciding to become educated.

Another good reference is www.heatinghelp.com/products/Hot-Water-H...or-hydronic-systems.

Used to be able to buy both for a discount but I don't see that option anymore.
