TOPIC: Loss of power to Firestar controller intermitently

Loss of power to Firestar controller intermitently 1 year, 3 months ago #14642

Hello all i'm new to this site my name is Stephen...I've been burning corn in a Harmon PC40 for about 4 years . i just purchased a used Maxim 175 and today got it up and running. I seem to have a problem intermittently with a loss of power to the Fire star controller or in the controller itself. It starts right back up again. I checked and have power coming out of the fuse when the unit shuts down and have power on both sides of the sensor on the one feed line going to the controller . Has anyone run across this before? I also reset to the default settings but that also didn't help. Thank you

I've never had this issue. Loose wire?

Thanks for replying . I don't think everyone should do this but since i do have some mechanical abilities and my unit is off warranty i removed the controller and opened it up . I checked all the wire pin connectors and looked for any telltale burn marks ..nothing found. Previously i had checked for power on both feed wires to the controller and had power on them even when the controller shut down .... what i did find was a heat sink on a component on the board was loose so i reinstalled it and put everything back together lo and behold it has been running perfect for 2 days now . I'm not sure if that was it but keeping my fingers crossed

My M250 did this once when the lower auger was jammed. I think the motor pulls too much current and it causes the controller to reset.

Thank you jdeere my auger wasn't jammed but i had taken the firestar controller back off and checked things out there as i wasn't losing power going up to the controller . It doesn't seem probable but i found a slide on heat sink not fully on a component i slid it on on ,reinstalled it and so far so good ....it's been working as it should ...but keeping fingers crossed
