I have another question for everyone. I have never cleaned my corn. In fact I had my gravity wagon filled right out of the combine last fall. I figure if its carbon based its gonna burn. Its been 2 years now and never had a problem. The auger on the maxin is pretty big and I feel thats the reason I have not had a problem. Beeswing, fines, dust, small cobs, pieces of corn stalk it all seem to burn just fine. Do all you fellow corn burners clean your corn?

i don't clean mine either except when it gets right to the bottom of the bin and it looks like 50% dust and 50% corn thats just to much dust and it wants to put the fire out. otherwise its beewings, fines dust, smallcobs etc.....burns just fine

I don't clean a bit of corn going into my Maxim 175. In fact we took some corn straight off of a test plot this year that was run off by a reasearch combine. The corn was full of stalks, some reaching upwards of 8 inches in length, and didn't have a single problem.

My Bixby stove now that is a different story. I have to be very selective on what on burn in there, the cleaner the better.

Sure wish I had another Maxim to heat my house!!

I never have cleaned corn. Straight from combine to wagon to boiler if the moisture is good. Last year it had to be dried.

No pluggage. I have had accorns bridge the Hopper intake when I ran a few bushel through this fall.

Have had the maxim 4 years now
Never had to clean the corn
That is what is so nice about them
running 20-25 t per year through it
Had the combustion fan pack it in on us just before christmas this year
But after running 24/7 for 4 years I have no complaints

I have never cleaned my corn. I have had a piece of cob get sort of wedged into the auger a couple of times, making it get a little loud and complain when the auger turned. My Maxim sits about 6 feet from my bedroom window so I hear stuff like that in the middle of the night. Anyway it complained a bit but I was too lazy to do anything about it and within 15 minutes the cob was ejected into the burn pot and everything was back to normal.

Sort of like when I eat too much cheese......
