Our local Fleet Farm has a US Stove 6041 multi-fuel stove on clearance for $1399. I have about 80 bu. of corn from a hot spot in a bin (45# test wt and dry at about 9% moisture) and about that much of barley screenings (the small kernels with some mustard weed seed that can't be blow off with fanning mill) that I don't know what to do with except burn for fuel. Sounds the corn wouldn't be an issue other than it will burn fast. But can it burn barley? Or are there other brands / models that would be better suited. Thanks for any input.

I have a 6039HF which is just about the same stove, the 6041 has a couple of changes made to it but it basically the same.

Mine will burn anything that fits down the auger. There are posts on the old forum about burning barley and it seems that it burns.

You may need to mix it with corn, what the hay, grab the stove and try it.

The USSC 6039/6041's aren't the most beautiful machines, but the control panel has unlimited settings so that what ever you can get down the auger you can set up to burn. Also most of the motors and other parts are available from sources other than USSC which makes it easy to make modifications/repairs cheaper than some other brands.

I burn 100% corn and love what my stove does for us. If I had access to barley I'd definitely try it.

Would you use the agitator or custom "clinker pot" mentioned on this site?

Go with the clinker pot. The stirrer makes a real mess of the stove, and with the clinker pot, just pull a every clinker 12 to 24 hours, depending on how hard you are burning. I have a bottom /side feed on mine, and wish at times I had a clinker pot, but I can put a pellet pot on mine and burn a nice mix of pellets with corn that the ash just falls into the ash pan. An auto dump is nice too.
