Just wondering if anyone had suggestions. I have a Quadra Fire Mt Vernon Ae now but would would like to get an insert for the upper floor. Just not sure what to get and I am looking (probably for next year now). I do like how the Mt Vernon AE can be hooked up to a thermostat and would like the insert to be able to do the same.

Please let me know suggestions that work well and what you like, thanks.

If you like the AE you can get it in a insert selection. But any insert is going be higher priced, small hopper capacity, high priced install with extra pipe to contend with, and higher labor cost to maintain.

I don't have room for anything but an insert on the upper floor but I really could use something more for that level. But thank you for your input.

Kap's right. The Castile very well might fill your needs for upstairs. Remember, though, that you can't put ANY pellet stove in a bedroom.

That is a nice insert! I have started to look at some, did you install it yourself?

Next winter should be extra warm i'm thinking- wish i didn't need to but I see no other way. Well worth it in my opinion anyway.

Thanks! No, I had the stove shop install it with flex all the way up the chimney. I put the OAK down the cleanout hole in the floor but with a quad it's really like p$$^ing in the wind. I did it anyway. I MIGHT talk myself into feeling less draft. I also built up around the ash pan with layers of high temp silicone to try to seal off some of the huge gap.
Don't let those comments deter you from looking at the Castile though or the 1200 or the Sante Fe. The Sante Fe has the same btu output of the Castile and is a lot less expensive with same dimensions.

Oh, and don't waste your money on those logs........... unless you want to buy one set of mine. I have TWO!!!
