My insurance company wants information on company that installed my stove. Question is, if you installed your own stove do you pay some to cre install it to satisfy their request? Instalation is on Tile floor and exhaust runs straight out back 24 inches.

I would not worry about it. I don't think that the insurance company should have any issues if it is done properly and to their liking. They may try to bully you, but don't buy into it. Iam sure your not the first person that they have insured that has a stove, so they should have some clue as to what is right and wrong. For the most part it is common sense.

First, did you install it as directed by the manufacturer? That will be the first thing required.
Second, is there any local building codes that go beyond the manufacturers installation requirements?
If you satisfy both of these requirements, DON'T, let the insurance company push you around.
Especially if the local codes do not require "licensed/professional" installation, then you can install it as long as you follow the installation requirements of the manufacturer and local/state building codes.

Everyone now days are concerned with liability and the inspectors are no different. They are more and more refering to the manufacturers installation instructions, the point I'm making is as long as you stick to the manufacturers installation instructions you should be ok, there is no inspector out there that is going to take responibility of telling you to do something other than what the manufacturer recomends.

Tinman, I agree, I'm just saying that if local codes are more restrictive then he'd have to go by them. Most of the time if an appliance is approved, then the manufacturers installation requirements are the rule.
Local codes could be more restrictive. If, the local codes are less restrictive you wouldn't use them, go with the most restrictive and it would be OK.

When I installed my furnace and stove, the insurance company wanted a statement from any heating company that it was done correctly. A local company I chose wouldn't approve it since I used a flexable intake. I then went to the township mechanical inspector armed with the manuals and he said he didn't have any problem, so I paid a small fee and he put his approved sticker on them. I then realized I could have freely discussed codes and plans with him before installation with a guaranteed pass.

When I moved to another county the next insurance company saw the sticker and was satisfied. Ask your insurance company, jence, if an inspection would meet their needs.

When I installed mine all they wanted was the manual
and pictures, after that the agent came out and measured everything.
He had alot of questions, mostly how I liked the stove.Called
a week later saying the underwriter approved everything that was it.

My company sent an inspector since I chose to install it myself. Here is the kicker. After the inspector looked at it, he stands on my deck looking at my old barn. He then tells me he needs to look at it more closely. What do you know I get a letter the next week from the insurance company. I have a month to take the barn down, get it repaired, or no more policy. I love insurance companies. I did a "controlled burn" after fighting with the company for a few weeks. PITA

I called the insurance company and they said if it's ok with the inspector that would be fine. If they give you problems I would look at other insurance companies.
