TOPIC: Maxim M250 problem

Maxim M250 problem 1 year, 6 months ago #11625

I just installed a Maxim M250 to heat my 2909 sqft home. I spray foam the walls and ceiling so the house holds the heat well. It has been about 40 degrees outside for a couple of weeks and i am going thru alot of pellets just keeping the water warm. What do i need to do to fix this. Thank you.

1ton in how many days? Where are u at?

Thermopex is good. Describe your setup, forced air, hot water, heating a pool? Heating dhw?

I fired mine up Saturday. Heating 2000 sq ft, drafty farmhouse with AWF pellets and burned about half bag over night. It wasn't real cold, 30 degrees and we didn't use much dhw.

With 3 winters under my belt I have used 260-400 bu corn a year. The 400 was the first year and learned a lot.

Heating 2900 sqft house that is insulated with sprayfoam. In floor radiant heat. I am using hardwood pellets. I went thru 4 tons of pellets the last 4 years of heating with regular in home pellet stove

Is the in floor radiant new or was it used by a previous heat source before? Possible if the slab is not insulated well underneith losing a lot of heat to the ground.

Need to compare the usage of energy by the previous boiler to get a comparison.

Im assuming the maxim is functioning fine as u did not mention any burn issues.

How many days did it take to go through the ton?

The system was never used before? Do you have a piping diagram u can post of your system? Return temperature protection installed? Need some installation details about the slab also.

Without details no way of to determine where the heat is going.

I use both yellow for air and feed in idle and normal. I think I have the air at min in high with both yellow for feed. The factory settings are pretty good. Unless u have something really out of whack I don't think the boiler is the issue.

Depending on outside temperature and if u are heating the dhw I wouldn't consider a ton in a month excessive.

My settings are above.
