I have a furnace from The Kernel Burner in Michigan (not the other Kernel Burner - there's 2). Anyway, this is my 4th year with the furnace. I am having touble with a back-draft when the blower fan kicks on & the combustion fans are off. My home fills with smoke because the smoke pours out of the auger & hair-dryer fans. When the combustion fans & auger kick on, no more problem. I have never had this problem before. I had someone come out and clean & check out the chimney. He said I have fantastic draft. I have checked the chimney draft in the furnace and it is working good. I ran the blower motor without a fire in the pot to check out effect on draft and it seems to be working good also.

Does anyone have any ideas of what to check to eliminate the problem. I contacted the manufacturer but they gave very little help.

Thanks

I think your Kernel Burner is the same basic design as my LMF.

The combustion fan (hair dryer) should be running all the time, at least mine does.

Thank you. How do I have running at all times?

Does having the combustion fan running continuously have the fire in the pot burn hotter? Does this cause the fire to be low in the pot? I have it on timer with 2 on and 6 off. Should I adjust?

I don't have the timers on mine, I use a Corntrol. There should be lots of burners here with a furnace similar to yours with the timers...America's Heat, LDJ, Big M, and both Kernel Burners should operate the same way.

On mine, the pot auger and the hair dryer run continuously, and the Corntrol operates the bin auger depending on the call for heat.

What fuel are you burning?

Currently corn. We tried with a pellet/corn mix but thought the smoke was due to the pellets. I still have the problem with corn alone.
