Can anyone give me advice about a pellet or corn grill. I have done a little research, but not sure if this is a good way to go.

Maac, I can't say that I have any experience with them. I'm wondering what your interest is in them. Ourselves, we enjoy the occasional BBQ but we don't do it often enough to justify a pellet or corn grill. Do you expect to use it enough for it to pay for itself? Just wondering.

I've seen them in action at county fairs. Looks like they work great, but..... the way the ones I saw worked it looked like it would take some time to bring them up to cooking temps. I suppose if you were doing large cook outs they would make sense. I use only charcoal myself, tried gas for a couple of years, just not the same when smoking meat to me.
Now the ones I saw were pretty good size, maybe something smaller would be ok. They also had indoor cook stoves for corn/pellets, looked just like the old cast iron wood stove we have at our hunting camp.

I know the meat market that I buy from sells those traeger pellet grills and they do look like a nice set up. www.traegergrills.com . I myself have a natural gas weber and a big green egg. I do most of my bbqing on the green egg and have had great success with it. www.biggreenegg.com. I find it amazing how well it holds exact temperatures and for how long.

On the farm I grew up on we had a small smokehouse. I thought about one of those big green eggs a friend has one, but I built myself a small smokehouse in the back yard. I had another "portable" one years ago. It took three guys to move it. A friend borrowed it to smoke hams from his hogs, he fell asleep and the fire got away, way away, ended up with cajun styled blackened bacon.
I ended up with stainless steel sheets, racks and the tempered glass from the door. I had built it out of 2" white ash. When smoking in cold weather you have to have some insulation around the meat or you get cold/cool areas. That's were the big green egg is superior to any grill or metal type cooker/smoker.

I have a Woodmaster pellet grill and I really enjoy using it. My wife does too, since she doesn't have to cook then.

I had a propane grill before and about the only thing that I ever did one it was hamburgers and such. Now with the pellet grill, I make entire meals on it. On Saturday, I made squash, potatoes, and pork tenderloin medallions wrapped in bacon. On Sunday, I made pork bbq ribs and potatoes. All was done on the pellet grill at the same time. I have even baked an apple pie on the grill.

With the pellet grill, you can set your temperature that you want to cook at, just like an oven. The Woodmaster even has a meat probe that is displayed through the temperature controller.

Here is a link to a website that I found very useful for making my decision on which pellet grill to purchase.

My buddy has one, he loves to cook. He really likes it. You can get different flavor pellets for it. He is a cooking geek. He has too much fun cooking, I leave it to the wife to cook, lol.........Brian

How much are those Big Green Eggs? Their web site is a little dodgy about the actual cost.

I have a pellet grill and love it. I use it alot. I have put about 800 lbs of pellets thru it in 20 months. You could take the oven out of the house and I would not miss it.

Even use it when the power is out.

Pizzas are great too.

It's all good on this thing.

Beef Ribs yumm.
