What's the best way to load corn/wood pellets into storage bin, approx. 5'-6' lift?

I should have mentioned that whatever system, it needs to be potable. I'll be burning pellets this year, as I've burned corn the past 6 seasons. Prices dictate a change. I need to trnsfer pellets from dumpcart/tractor, with a total run of no more than 10', lift about 5'. I have 4 one ton bins in garage that will need filling...in the past I've been using a 5 gal. bucket, and its works o.k. But I'm coming up on 65 and starting to run out of steam....Thx for ideas/input.

Hunter, you could use a vac-based cornvac www.cornvac.com/ or kan_burn system forum.iburncorn.com/wiki/index.php/Kan-burn that empties into a sealed container (such as a steel barrel) mounted above the bin to be filled. When the sealed container fills, open a valve or gate at its bottom to empty into the bin. Repeat.

Good luck, and let us know how you make out.

Hunter, you responded to me by PM that you are limited by headspace.

Perhaps blowing would be an option for you?
See the WIKI at forum.iburncorn.com/wiki/index.php/Venturi and also my thread ( forum.iburncorn.com/viewtopic.php?t=8550) that chronicals my learning exercise on blowing. Page 7 of that thread includes a video showing corn moved at 75 lb/min. As with a water pump, you can push more efficiently than you can blow, and you don't need the headspace.

Corny....I went with the Mobile CornVac, and it works very well.I used a piece of pvc as a pickup tube, with about a 3' section of the supplied flex hose. My vac is 5.5 hp [Lowes] and it worked fine. Only modification I made was to the bottom of the pickup tube....I fastened a large cotter pin to the bottom of the tube with a radiator hose clamp to keep the tube about an inch off the bottom of my dump cart. The wood pellets loaded easily...about an hour and a half to do a ton,at a comfortable pace. Got 4 ton done in two afternoons, plus ato reserve still on a pallet. With all the frightening weather occuring everywhere, I'm glad I purchased my pellets early on....I'm afraid the cost of corn this season will be very high. The planting seasons for a lot of crops , including corn are already a good month behind with no end in sight. Good luck to all !

I mdon't know if its the best but I augar the corn to the top of 500 and 1000 gal poly tanks. I then run it all down over a double screen to clean cob/stems and fines. Works well when corn was 150 per ton. Dosn't work at all with corn over 300. Havn't felt the need to clean my 189/ton pellets.
