I have not posted much for a while. With something new more posting could happen. After a good 9 year run burning grain I decided it was time to make a change. The grain burner will be moved to our shop where it should live an easy life of semi-retirement.

The new burner (LEI BB500) will able to burn a wide range of biomass. I am going to start out burning wood chips. Who knows what will get dumped into the fuel bin later. Maybe even corn if the price is right

Moving the old boiler.

New boiler.

Hey Burnsalot, great to see your trying something new! Did you go to Kentucky to pick this up? Love checking out the 100 and all the things you can burn. You probably could even burn the pult dropping, ooooo that smell... Good luck and please send more pictures or a short clip of it running.

Wow, nice, and I thought your previous set up was great, now this!
Most of us don't have to burn anything near what you do but I think we all love seeing such units/systems. I remember the zoning pics you posted among others that were just great.

Does anyone else have any experience with these units? Looks promising. Are they expensive?

Nogas,I did go to KY and pick up the unit, and got a little training on how to operate the unit.

Corny, that hoe does come in handy for a lot of things. The boiler was to heavy for our tractor loader. As you can see we hooked a ways back on the boom to help with the leverage.

The units are not cheap, but I think they are a good value for what they can do. They have autoignition and gas back up. They can feed and burn a wide range of biomass. The 500,000 btu unit is in the $40,000 range

It will be interesting to see the support equipment setup for this. It won't be a 4 gallon bucket operation. Nice looking burner.
Countryside 3500P (pedestal version) used 10 yrs, 24/7 during days requiring heat. All original motors. Burns moldy corn, and pellets equally well. Burn it if you got it.

Here are a few shots of a work in progress. I chose to build a chip bin using feed tank rings instead of getting the hardware kit and using plywood sides. The rebar tarp hoops are something that should be temporary, but you never know

That furnance looks much bigger when we see it in place. Always top notch work, coming from you, Burns. All very interesting .

That's a cute bin and, I'm sure, is giving some of us ideas. The "temporary" brackets for the rebar is a clever idea. For a somewhat narrower bin, I'm thinking of a new use for those old big ugly satellite dishes. Kicking myself now for having declined a free one years ago .
