Baby girl Bixby turned on for the first time in two weeks. Got down to 31, wind chill of 26. Harvested the first spears of asparagus last night before covering the bed with straw in prep for the frost warning.

After a couple of weeks off, I'm burning again. Got to use up about 200# of corn. Never stored corn over the summer before and hope I don't have to. Does it absorb humidity readily. I don't want a mess in the fall.

It won't absorb moisture, but if it gets wet, it will rot. It can get beetles too.

DONE for the year.
Finished burning off about 1/2 a hopper full I was saving for a cool streak. Only used 3 ton of corn and 60 bags of pellets (continuous burn from Nov 28 to April 11).
Kept the 40x96x18 shop at 65°.
About a 1/3 of what I used last year.
Now to clean furnace and spray inside down with diesel fuel. Need to put new bearings in powervent and combustion blower motor. Then I'll be ready for next winter.

Have a great summer!!!

John

Every time I think we're done burning... Time to turn the girl on again, temps are dropping to the low 30s tonight and we've got high winds (sustained of 30 mph with 45 mph gusts). Wind that strong is just miserable...

Stove is still running here too. Almost 80* yesterday. Wind has been terrible most every day.
