Ashes I use Rutlands White Off Product 565. After using alot of different things this is the best I've found. The more elbow grease the better. I put a good coat on and rub vigerously until it's gone and polish with clean paper towel. Took off stuff that was years old.

I use the same product, works great. Clean off as much as you can just with paper towels and water, then use the white off.
Some won't like this but.....I also use 0000 steel wool with the white off on stubborn spots. I've used it for years and never has caused any scratching on my glass. Maybe some glass is different but for mine it's worked great with out scratching.

My 7 year old granddaughter (when she was 6) was playing with a plastic pom-pom in front of the stove. When I looked up, I thought the glass shattered, only to discover she got too close and touched it to the glass. What a scare! But a little goo off and a lot of scraping with a puddy knife got most of it off.

I get the top half of the glass covered in dust after a days worth of burning pellets. When the stove is cool, I use some of the ash with a damp paper towel to clean, then use a clean damp one, then a dry one, clear as a bell.
