Just tried my first and last bag of Starlites. Enough dust to make a full sheet of 1/2" particle board. They smell like dirty socks right out of the bag. They are burning ok but nothing special. Definately not worth the $3.99 I paid for them. I bought 2 bags and will use the second for starting the fire pit.

Where did they come from? Be sure and tell management. There is enough brands out there that they don't have to buy junk.

They came from Big R. Don't know if you have them in your area. They are like a TSC, Rural King, etc. They carried Pro-Pellet, then switched to Easy Heat, now Starlite. I detect a downward trend

I have burned Marth in the tan bag. Very good pellets. Fuel King is another one. I am burning a pallet of them that i have had in the basement for 3 years. Superior is a good one. Indeck are good. I have 2 1/2 pallets of Pennywise in the shop. They burn good and hot, but are dirty, and have more ash.

Now I'm burning my first Somersets of 2012. Great as always!

I've never seen Somersets around here. Would try them with all the good reviews over the years for them.

My experiment with Wood Fiber Inc. from Niagara, WI. hardwood pellets. Every bag very dusty, very soft breakable pellet. If I mix more than 50/50 with corn the glass soots up quickly and when I pull the clinker there is a lot of soot/discoloration on the clinker fork that gets all over my hands when I handle it after it cools off.

Tweaked the air some (more and less) to see if I could get a cleaner burn but no way. They don't seem to affect the heat output so I can't complain on that, just dirty, dirty, dirty to burn and handle.

Won't buy again unless I know they make some changes.

Like you with the Somersets, I have never seen Wood Fiber pellets here. But if I do I will heed your warning. Thanks.
