I had been using the set up that tfgrower showed me with wire and hardware cloth. Worked great. Well the hardware cloth deteriorates in the heat and I was out of it. The store was out also. So I improvised. Been using it 2 weeks now and still works great. It's a simple $3 potato masher with the handle removed. Simply set it in the fire pot and start burning. I have lifted hot and cold clinkers out without them breaking apart. Fits well in the Amaizablaze 4100 pot but not sure it will fit in the 2100 pot.

Great idea, they make them in different sizes so people should be able to find one to fit just about any pot.

Nice going cz ! Let us know about durability. I think the reason it works so well may be that it doesn't flex.

Pete... good point. I didn't even think that come in different sizes.

tfg... Ya, I don't know how long the metal will stand all that heat. We'll see. If I have to buy 1 a month, that's not so bad at $3-$4. My guess is that it will last most of the season.

I've been on wrong thread with your great idea cz Did you need to bend to fit any where or did you just plunk it in there. Are upwrights on end or in sides of pot?

Sorry, I was on the PS 3 playing Call of Duty hahaha.

Mine is carbon steel. SS would be better. I did not have to bend it any. I just removed the plastic handle. The size is 3" by 4" and fits perfect in the 4100 pot. The uprights are on the 4" that goes in the pot left to right. I started off with 1 and just shook the clinker off and put it back in. Now I have 2. I remove the clinker and put it and the masher in a small metal pail. I put the 2nd (cold) masher in to take it's place. When the clinker cools it becomes softer and I just shake it off the masher into the pail. That masher is now ready for the next clinker removal. I did have to make a modification after 3 weeks. After removing the plastic handle it exposed both terminal ends of the steel rod. These rods were glued together at the factory. The glue eventually melted so I wrapped the ends in wire similar to whipping the ends of a rope. No big deal.

Jeffrey - this should work with corn or pellets equally well. The corn clinkers will be much harder than the pellet clinker but will soften after sitting a while.

I think mine will be 4". I'll know what I have in a week. May should have got the larger one. I may bend alittle to shape of pot but not so much it touch bottom of pot. I appreciate tip. Would have acted sooner but was afraid they would burn up in 5 uses like #9 wire.
