will you be burning $7 corn this fall/winter? What do you think the prices will do ? Go up, down or stay around $7?

What is the price of electricity doing, fuel oil? LP? taxes? wood pellets? interest? I see everything going up except wages and Social Security.
Now if inflation jumps that will put people in a different tax category and we get to pay more.
Actually you can buy new crop corn cheaper then 7.00 I think farmers were offered between 5 and 5.50 for new crop corn not long ago.

15% corn for October is around $5.70 to $5.80 around here.
I will contract 12% cleaned corn for $6.10 per bushel or $217.86 per ton or the 15% clean corn for$ 5.85 per bushel or $209 per ton
If you want to contract wood pellets looks like $185 per ton. $200 for the Pine pellets

I will probably burn a mix of anything. Hoping that we can get the wheat off early enough and No-till in 60 acres of buckwheat and burn that next fall. Will probably burn mixed with corn and corn cleanings and home made pellets out of waste.
If it's biomass and I can get it thru my stove I'll burn it.4rth yr burning with a Pinnacle Emerald and 3rd yr 1020 American Royal Biomass boiler.Wife loves the heat.

I will smoke some 7 dollar corn. It works great in my appliance. I mixed some pellets in this winter. Still burning and sitting in my boxers . Fuel getting a bit low but used 58 bu corn and 34 bags of wood pellets this season so far. Will burn till June if needed.

I am going to gamble that buying now will be the cheapest pricing we will see all year. I just got my stove and based off of my calculations of needing 6 tons to heat all winter ..... I will save over $1,000 dollars just based off of what we spent last year on oil. Oil is now 50 cents more a gallon then it was last year.

Depends on what propane prices are.

In hind sight I could have pre-bought propane @ 1.67 gal. last year and when I'm not burning anything but propane I use about 2200 gallons a year.
So 2200 x 1.67 = $3674 (I did pre-buy 550 gal @ 1.67)

this year I have spent on corn and pellets 2300 and also 1100 on propane that = $3400

So I didn't save that much but I'll probably have about 200 gal. of propane more left this year than last so that would be additional savings of $334. So it was still worth it.

I didn't pay that much attention last year to the pre-buy prices of propane but with corn and pellets around or over 200 a ton, if I can get 1.67 propane I'm going to buy more for next year.
